Who the hell "still grieves today" for these executed people. Sure it is very sad, indeed horrific but I don't think people today are grieving over them.
I was in the Tower of London last week; all okay but when you visit the chapel where Anne Boleyn; her brother; Lady Jane Grey; her husband; and her father all lay fills you with sheer horror of the Mad Tudors!
Sorry to spoil your enjoyment but the actual spot of execution is not correct. During Queen Victoria's reign she decided to place a memorial for those beheaded. BUT nobody knew where it was so they opted for a spot on the green!
I also agree, this is not the exact spot of the many beheadings, etc. I know this from watching a video about Anne Boleyn. The scaffold for her and many others was further away from where they decided to say the "exact" spot of the scaffold was. I don't believe we will ever know exactly where so much blood was shed.

Couldn't we add a few more to the list - politicians, for instance?!

This is so touching..
Maybe they rest in peace.
I visited the tower last year and Tower Hill memorial and hope to visit it again next year.
Very fascinating place but a gruelsome history.
Thank you for posting this.

why are they having a memorial for people who were executed, like traitors...do they deserve to have a memorial
englishRaleigh 3 years ago
Some may have indeed been traitors but most were innocents whom the King wished out of the way for his own personal reason which do not justify them.

Anne Boleyn, for example, was innocent of all the charges pressed against her. I think she deserves to have a memorial.

This video makes me happy that I didn't live in the Middle Ages when the Tower was a horrible place of terror.

Usually executions took place on Tower hill, outside the Tower. Or so the Beefeaters say.
