trentemoller is the only artist that stunned me with a new different style just as much as he did with the very first things ive heared from him years ago,... *.*
you people need to stop being so critical and over-analyzing his music. take it for what it is. if you don't care for it, then don't listen to it. simple as that.
look Ill put this back in order. I love this album ok. Also there IS feeling I just said that the same feeling from the Last Resort is not present, only new ones instead. In regards to Moby, he changed his style quite substantially and now produces almost like chill-out music which is ok. I only meant to compare Trentemoller with this change, not that he actually now produces this music, only that he also has changed in musical direction. I really like the album. End of Story
It's a masterpiece album! The Last Resort is a classic album that inspired a lot of great artists like Lulu Rouge, Mike Sheridan, Mikael Simpson...witch adopted the same style. So this was getting a little crowded. Into The Great Wide Wonder is a magnificent change of direction. Trentemoller is always ahead of all the industry. My opinion: an amazing album despite all the controversy !
Despite all the critics I like a lot the new album. For me it's just mind blowing and is a piece of art for the unconventional music !!! It's not fair to compare it with The Last Resort. Also the FEELING is not gone. For me is just stronger than ever. It's just new emotions generated and it's the same unique Trentemoller's spirit . I really don't get all the criticism for this album!!! I thought the Trentemoller fans love his twisted style. It's just to sad to read this bad comments...

@TheOceanlab Im not saying its bad. Why does everyone say things i didnt! I also have to disagree in regards to the feeling. Its gone. The forest feeling that is. Yes there are new emotions present but Trentemoller made his name tweaking and evoking pictures of dark forests or other eerie landscapes. Also the twisted sound has gone awol for a lot of the tracks, not all but a large portion. Dont do the same track twice but Im starting to think he is becoming a little like Moby rock and electronic
@DaNooch669 you are so wright, the last resort was a masterpiece, this is just what they all make. trying to make a new sound? no he isnt hes trying to make indie now?! its a ok album, but the wonderful in the last resort was the feeling of escape.
@DaNooch669 Sorry! But i don't agree. His style is way way way way different than Moby's . I love diversity in music and.... anyway after all it's just different tastes. I still like a lot the last album. Also i love his last remixes and reedits. His style could change again over time. Anyway i could understandthe criticism about his change of stiles, but i could never agree with stupid phrases like"theres just no feelings at all"....That's just so so so not true...
Too much repetition is ver bad of course. But this new album does not exaxctly stand close to The Last Resort. Tide, yes keep the vocals, and i dont like pop music so i dont listen to the radio anymore. Trentemoller is my favouritge artist but what I am trying to say is that the FEELING is gone. I repeat, the FEELING. He can change from clean crisp contemporary electronica/dub to this blend but the FEELING please keep. I think you have just misinterpreted me.
If it is repitition u want, stick to the local radio station. I agree tho, that "Even though you're with another girl" is quite a weak track compared to the rest of Into the great wide yonder.
This is pretty good, compared to most of his new album. I was quite disappointed due to his transition from the unique style of electronica he is famous for to this more "organic" feel. I think that The Last Resort is one of the greatest albums ever produced and Into The Great Wide Yonder has a hell of a long way to reach such standards he previously set. In conclusion I believe that the melancholy and eerie, haunting feeling to his music is gone. Its a good album, but Resort was soooo awesome.
@DaNooch669 Into The Great Wide Yonder somehow lost this foggy forest feeling that I loved so much in Resort and in some tracks I believe I listen to a slow version of the Raveonettes and Efdemin. And I don't like the vocals that much either. But I still think it is a lot better than most of the albums I own.
@RaaM1871 even though youre with another girl is in my opinion a fill in song, i really dont like it too much as it is completely different to the music Trentemoller is capable of creating. He is a much better musician than that. I agree with you, the vocals arent that great for many of its songs, Tide and Neverglade isnt that bad but Even though youre with another girl just wrecks it for me. I like how yiu categorized THE LAST RESORT as forest feeling. Thats how i see it. Good one
@DaNooch669 how can u expect every artist to keep one style and produce every album exactly the same as the pervious one??? lol the point is experimenting, and this is what trentemoller has been trying to achieve in his previous album "mixing electronica and rock" together but in the previous album it didnt work as good as into the great wide yonder did, i enjoyed this album so much, as well as for all his other albums, just different mood set.
@ramidubbb I agree with experimenting, dont get me wrong, but the electronica is thinly spread throughout the album, while The Last Resort had a rich mix of both (dare I say) classical, IDM, contemporary and dub electronica while producing dark, eery, surreal landscapes which created melancholy feelings, the forest feeling (thank you Raam1871). But what I am trying to say is that those feelings, those DREAMSCAPES are gone in this album. The songs are good, just bring back his unique touch!

A different direction - sure. But it is still marvellous 'midnight' electronica, in my opinion.
