not true. a well done roll tack WILL propel your boat. I've done it many times. Have you ever pumped your boat on a day without wind? its essentially the same concept, of course roll tacks work.
lol where are you sailing at!?!? Disneyland??? Go somewhere fun like chicago where theres like 15-20 knots...Besides that good roll tacks, good form, posture, you get the point =D
ha chicargo in New Zealand we have way better sailors and up to 30 knots reguarly but we also have under 5 sometimes so we good in all kinds of wind. in fact i bet that you have never even sailed in 30 knots bacause other countries call racing off at wat 10 15 knots i am only 13 and have sailed in 4 meter waves with 30 knots in a 420 just off the coast
Ya, but where we live, we know what the sun looks like =p lol. No I know, I'm 14 and the most wind I've ever sailed in is like 20-22 knots in CFJ Nationals. I live in the Orange County and sail around 7-12 knots normally, but it's always fun just to cruise. =)
we do get sun in summer but winter not so much god when we were in those 4 meter waves we got out to the corse and it was 6 km straight out to sea against the waves and they were breaking it was insane then comming bac with the spinnikers up we were flying
@Iamnotaemo i sail in the us, and have been in a regatta when it was blowing 35. also i sailed a regatta in italy, and it was blowing 45. niether were cancelled. lastly if you think you and new zealand are soo good at sailing why have you'all not won any "sailor of the year" awards for a while.
you need to have some leeward heel to help the boat up into the wind.

roll tacks dont reall work, you just need to slowly head up, and switch your tack carefully

you are using far to much rudder you need to use less then you will be pointing higher and coming out of the tack quicker

rolling a tad bit early....need to heel the boat to leward more before the tack.
