Well, the I've-got-a-head-cold vocals and the dancing (!!??!) are a bit off, admittedly. Overall, though, it's a departure for Zevon, it has a message, and the drumming and the Swahili that Zevon chants in his lowest register keep it on my list of favourites.  Glad to hear other perspectives, though. Keeps our ears open!

Wow, I remember this hearing this song on the radio! (Like 3 times.) I thought it was so cool. It is one of 2 songs that I never have heard since but really stuck with me because they were so different than what else was on and I really liked them. Thanks for posting this!

My record collection was a mish mash of stuff -- I think this was the only Zevon vinyl I had (since I loved so many of the tracks). Started buying them for a few years in my teens and then CDs started showing up. I think I had some others on cassettes -- but they've all gotten worn out or lost in moves over the years.

Looks like Zevon on vinyl isn't that hard to find on eBay, if you're into vinyl.
