  • This song surprisingly sounds like most 80s pop, unlike the rest of his work.

  • This song is catchy, yet suggestive at the same time lol.

  • Anyhing Warren does is great. Nobody these days can come close to his talent.

  • @katshadowone I completely agree with you!

Warren was so different and what fucking talent!

There is nobody like him today.

  • If I had a boat, I'd name it the Warren Zevon. If it was a big boat, I might even carve a figurehead (I'm a carver); him with his round glasses. I think it would make a difference between me and the deep. If it didn't, I'd still be happier.

  • Weird song on an otherwise solid album.

  • Only white guy in the band on this cut was Flea.

  • Love it!!

Proof that Warren moved with the times- classic rock to 80's electronic. An under-appreciated musician.

    RIP Warren Zevon

  • RIP Warren Zevon

  • I am so glad that so many people are getting the chance to see this unusual video. Zevon didn't make many. This one also gives him some cred with younger folks, as he is side by side with Funkadelic's George Clinton. I'm trying to get another fine vid "Searchin For A Heart" posted, but YT so far, says no. Stay tuned!!!

  • Been searching for this one for a long time. Audio was the quest. Video is interesting. What MTV used to be like.

  • Sweet video. I'll have to get the Current in Minneapolis to play this.

  • drums be the key . . that's one of the reasons I love this song in the first place. you should hear it in Spanish, too!

  • Not one of his best.

  • Well, the I've-got-a-head-cold vocals and the dancing (!!??!) are a bit off, admittedly. Overall, though, it's a departure for Zevon, it has a message, and the drumming and the Swahili that Zevon chants in his lowest register keep it on my list of favourites. Glad to hear other perspectives, though. Keeps our ears open!

  • Wierd -ass cokin' and aboozin' going around in those days !! But he was up there ! RIP warren !!

  • funny vid!xD

    warren zevon 4 ever!

    he's dead,but you get it...

  • Danny Kleinman was the director of this video, I edited this piece, I had worked with George before but I finally got to meet up with warren at the coachhouse. What an incredible artist he was

  • Just another great song by the genius, zevon, who should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • haha, i think its the only video i know of with uncle george bustin a move.

  • bust him into the the hall, dudette.

  • i give them both props. dont get me wrong

  • they also have the Latin Rascals extended version to that song.

  • There was a lotta shit in 87 ,guess why !

  • Featuring George Clinton and members of P-Funk on the track, as well as GC in the video.

  • psycadelic

  • PSychiatric is a better word ! But I love the guy !

  • most welcome!

"Sentimental Hygiene" is out on CD with bonus tracks, incl this song in Spanish. a must-have for the true Zevonite.

  • Wow, I remember this hearing this song on the radio! (Like 3 times.) I thought it was so cool. It is one of 2 songs that I never have heard since but really stuck with me because they were so different than what else was on and I really liked them. Thanks for posting this!

  • Whites colonising Africa, displacing the natives, closing their doors and eyes and ears to the damage they had done.

  • WTF is this song about???

  • Sentimental Hygiene is a great album.

  • I've got it on vinyl ... wish I had some way to play it.

I'm feeling so old right now.

  • Really? I bought the CD used at a local commic store and it was used so I got it for cheap. Which is good because it's really hard to find this album.

  • Bought it when it was first released (early-mid eighties?). It's with my brother's vinyl collection, now, since I don't really have enough of a vinyl collection to justify an investment in a turntable.

  • What other Zevon albums do you have?

  • My record collection was a mish mash of stuff -- I think this was the only Zevon vinyl I had (since I loved so many of the tracks). Started buying them for a few years in my teens and then CDs started showing up. I think I had some others on cassettes -- but they've all gotten worn out or lost in moves over the years.

Looks like Zevon on vinyl isn't that hard to find on eBay, if you're into vinyl.

  • all of them. WZ did not make many videos, MTV style, unfortunately.

  • Best Buy - 99.99 turntable - plug it in an aux jack - Our kids are like " what the hell are those things ? " We have LP night at the house ............

  • Ive got Exitable boy, Bad Luck Streak in Dancing school and Stand in the Fire on vinyl. They still Press vinyl. They have this awsome Turntable/Cd recorder/cassete player/mp3 player at Target for like 150$

  • Tell me about it. I played this song (on vinyl) on my college radio show. They have something called the I-Convert at Brookstone. Converts your vinyl to MP-3. Good luck!

  • the best Warren Zevon song ever

  • Zevon and George Clinton? I had no idea! Cool!

    Think! It Ain't Illegal Yet.

  • His music isn't exactly for mass consumption, and this song is an example of that.

    Great song. I love Zevon.

  • hey, i'm just glad somebody is watching! Z made so few MTV-type videos in his career - i want to get them out there to demonstrate his versatility. tx for commenting.

  • good job niamhorourke

  • this song came out in 1987.

  • typo. i'll fix it.
