@northlanderdude I didn't have one. You say the previous owner only used the A end. Well that means they were using it for 50 damn years. That means it's wore the fuck out and falling apart. The cheapest solution to that is to let it fall apart, and use the other end. Railroads, all railroads, are cheap asses.
@pdxsteam Trimet never received it's full order of trains for wes. The company making them went bust and left trimet short a couple of units. Now, there were enough parts to complete one more unit, but no one to assemble them, so they put that one together themselves, then to get their last unit, purchased those old bud cars.
@CLietke Yes, and they always keep a bud car idling outside the car barn as a hot spare. You can tell it's kept idling by the cloud of clag around it. :/
Really nice video! I'm glad someone got these! Glad to see they're still in service on the rails! I remember riding on them in Alaska... Boy, 702 has a GREAT K5LA!
Those K3LAs need some work...LOL.
I miss the old RS3Ls they had...WHY did they get rid of them? WHY???!!!

I always liked the RDC's !
weird how they are being operated from the B ends, VIA Rail always has the A ends only.
northlanderdude 2 months ago
@northlanderdude which is why trimet are using the b end. Guess which end wasn't beat to shit.

@Polybun now I got ya, these RDC's are ex Alaskan Railway, VIA still has a few of theirs kicking around, and a few more are being rebuilt.
northlanderdude 1 month ago
@Polybun I don't know why you think the A end controls would trashed or falling apart ??
northlanderdude 1 month ago
@northlanderdude because they have been being abused for the last 50 years. Another fact about railroad equipment. Operators can break anything!
Polybun 1 month ago
@Polybun IDK how rough operators are in the States, but in Canada, the guys treat the equipment like it's their own !
northlanderdude 1 month ago
@northlanderdude Yeah well, have you seen how we treat our own cars over here?

Oh Buddies! Both ex-Reading Company and both ran in SEPTA service for only 2 years and now there back! Such a big step from 1982.

good to see some old RDD's being used again.
why did TriMet order more trains? are more people riding WES now?
pdxsteam 1 year ago
@pdxsteam I think these are going to used as backup and not in everyday service.
