This just sounds like the band is playing the song for the first time.

Its sad that all Morrisseys covers of the Smiths sounds too slow and soft. Although that performance of "I want the one i cant have" on youtube is quite good, tempo wise. Its feels a bit too rich, i mean too many instruments, a bit too much. It sounds exactly like what Morrissey "the band" sounds like when they do The Smiths.

apart from the fact its not true, i can relate to the fact theyre slightly uncomfortable with not playing theyre own music, and harcore Smiths-fans disagree with the fact these performances occur, rather then enjoying the music and that Morrisey is a complete hero and looks comfortable with the music and makes this performance and song yet again a blast.

At the end of the day anyone playing these songs (regardless of their ability) other Marr, Rourke and Joyce are simply playing covers. I don't think anything Morrissey has done as a solo artist can hold a light to the material he put out with the Smiths.
