@darkside1918 I hadn´t noticed it til your post but i think so...I´ve seen so many morrissey&smiths concerts online-it´s amazing how he still brings up new details-seems ouer mozzer never runs out of ideas...
maybe its an attempt on his part to distinguish the Smiths version(s) from his.....? lets hope that some day, one day, they'll decide to get back together for some concerts. wouldnt that be nice
he's still great - but i agree with the comment on slowing down a lot of smith songs... I dont know if its Moz or the band. but in any case, it just doesn't rock the same that slow.
Its sad that all Morrisseys covers of the Smiths sounds too slow and soft. Although that performance of "I want the one i cant have" on youtube is quite good, tempo wise. Its feels a bit too rich, i mean too many instruments, a bit too much. It sounds exactly like what Morrissey "the band" sounds like when they do The Smiths.
Do you know anything about English culture at all? Do you realize that the English have been abreviating their names for decades exactly in this manner (Caz. Bez, MOZ)? In fact if you were to refer to the "The More You Ingnore Me..." record sleeve, you'll see a photo of Jake with "MOZ" written on across his stomach. By the way, you are a rude bastard. Do you always wield your ignorance like a weapon or is it just when you can hide behind your computer?
I like the fact that the guitarists keep looking down at their guitars. Johnny Marr could probably play them all whilst blindfolded, inverted, and in a centrifuge.
apart from the fact its not true, i can relate to the fact theyre slightly uncomfortable with not playing theyre own music, and harcore Smiths-fans disagree with the fact these performances occur, rather then enjoying the music and that Morrisey is a complete hero and looks comfortable with the music and makes this performance and song yet again a blast.
At the end of the day anyone playing these songs (regardless of their ability) other Marr, Rourke and Joyce are simply playing covers. I don't think anything Morrissey has done as a solo artist can hold a light to the material he put out with the Smiths.
Press 7, what the hell is that?

Whys he gotta go and slow all these songs down? I done like it.

I was wondering the same thing.

because when you get older
you also get mellower and if you don't
well playing it the same way for years and years can be boring.
he's not too young anymore !
keep that in mind

Hes not even playing it differently. He is just playing it slower.
Page and Plant's rendition of Gallow's Pole, now that is playing a song differently.
This just sounds like the band is playing the song for the first time.
Morrissey ruins almost all the Smiths classics. Just watch his version of 'This Charming Man' on Jonathan Ross.
ilikemusicandhockey 2 years ago
well slower is different in a way lol
:D cheers for Moz

barely slowed down... its for the groove value. Because SO many bands play fast, these guys are deliberately playing sloww....

@morrisseyfan64 I highly doubt Morrissey would work with Joyce again.

@morrisseyfan64 no it wouldnt be nice if they got back together - it would be the end of the magic that sourrounds The Smiths....it'l never happen x

I agree, why does it have to be that way now?? I suspect that it's actually the way want it now. I don't see any other reason. Still great song!

Morrissey is the man. But check out Radiohead's version of this song, it is pretty good.

i'd rather check out the smiths version.. i hear it's rather good :-)
..the madrid live clip is rocking.. johnny playing that unique 'lead/rythm' style sounds better than this with 2 guitarists.
