the modifier stack is one of the greatest things every invented. Even houdini uses it. or something very similar. Will this object painting tool be available in the stack?
i hate to see all these bashing remarks. autodesk has to figure out if 90 percent of these comments are negative and 10 percent are positive...somethings wrong here... please stop making more buttons i can access all these things fine without these caddies. I'm still excited to see real improvements in MAX! :)
I didn't think it was too bad, and then again, you change ANYTHING in the user interface at all. You can get rid of the ribbon, different toolbars, add them, remove them, and completely customise it.
i know that, i also did rappatools just to custimize my max... i use max 2009 because 2010 it's way slower then 2009... even when u go from vertex to edge or poly thakes more time then 2009...
As a seasoned 3dsMax user I'm moving to other packages only because of 2 things: 3dsmax crashes toooo much and workflow (very poor using 3dsmax wway of thinking). Instead of adding tools, buying plugins to package them as the "new features", pls fix the main package software.
3ds Max has had improved stability with every release - but we've also focused on leveraging the GPU which has caused more dependencies on your drivers/GPU. Unfortunately, we don't totally control which GPU you use and we pay the price for that. If you used GPUs/drivers that we publish as supported, you'd likely find more stability.
although, yes this is the evolution of a script, and XBR is not about that, this is actually much more than the advanced painter or the objrctPainter.
I love the new Interface :) Go ahead change it all!!!!
It strikes me as a marketing failure, vision confusion.
"XBR is all about architecture not cool new features."
This... it's a cool new feature. Look at what colonelclaw called it "a tool."
It's a nice script. I would have downloaded it. I would have prefered the old big panel full of contols to the new big panel full of controls (ooo watch us advance) but enh, gotta innov^H^H^H^H^Hkeep up with the jones, I guess.
Same here I have been using max for over 10years, I do not get the ribbon interface at all. The only thing it will be good for is attracting new users to max as it appears to make max seem more usable. On the other hand it just holds back good experienced artists. Not to mention making seem clunking and bloated, Autodesk needs to realize that max is a pro app not MS Word.
The Ribbon can do everything the command panel does but adds user customization through XML. It also adds more features that the command panel can't do such dockable and floatable panels, fly outs and tabs.
These are nice feature like it.

It's all configurable!

How about a Fluid Solver for max? The oldest package is still the only one not to have one...

Thanks for the support. The problem is that the people who aren't having problems rarely speak up.

You'll just have to wait for the new UI video. I think this will address your concerns.
