  • Wykonanie tego utworu jest piękne.chciałbym by kiedyś choć na chwilę wróciły te czasy.

  • This is one of many videos I have uploaded that has been subjected to phony copyright claims by "Orchard Music" and "Ingrooves". This is a public domain recording. Please do not click on any links below the video. This criminal conduct should not be rewarded.

  • Simply awesome. God gave her a gift that few have!

  • what a remarkable voice...she sang this song the best...

  • Truly an awe inspiring performance. I hope that Miss Durbin knows her music is still enchanting us. Thank God for the ability to record her voice so future generations will hear it and be swept away as we are.

  • What pipes! Always loved Deanna....Thanks for posting this, fond memories. :-)

  • A very nice rendition of Ave Maria!

  • i think this is absolutely fantastic. the childrens voices really bring out the emotions in me. I want to hear more childrens choirs.

  • Bravo and respect,my angel

  • the diction is marvelous, especially for a soprani.. could have canned the choir lose a little diction into the very high head register near the end.... Bach never existed , huh- tell Gounod or God that , moron....

  • Shivers all across my body when I hear this beautiful voice.

  • Bach never existed, he was invented by the illuminati to undermine the real classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, and later composers including Schubert. Schubert's Ave Maria is much more spiritual than this ridiculous Disney-esque melody. They didn't even bother to obey their precious "counterpoint"

  • @RandyNewmanFan They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!

    They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa

To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be

happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're

coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!!

  • @RandyNewmanFan go away with your science fiction!

  • @RandyNewmanFan Beethoven, Mozart, and Haydn never existed either. They were created by the Taliban to throw everyone off bin Laden's trail. I guess that didn't work though, huh?

  • @RandyNewmanFan This was sung by someone who you could see is totally inspired by these wonderful words and these wonderful references to Mary, this is beautiful !

  • @RandyNewmanFan PUH-leeezz...

  • @RandyNewmanFan sorry are you calling this version Disney-esque. Flip me, under your supreme ideas I guess millions of people should stop singing it in Churches across the world

  • I had almost forgotten how beautiful her voice was.

  • Out of all the many versions I've heard this is the most memorable and beautiful

  • Her voice was perfection, she was one of a kind...God Bless her!

  • This beauty is from Mad About Music (1938)

  • This serene and celestial musical masterpiece is so beautiful and a fitting tribute of human ingenuity to the Mother of God, the blessed Virgin Mary. He who loves Jesus MUST likewise love the one he loves, no less than her mother Mary, who actually is the first Christian disciple by submitting herself to the will of God. Here in the Philippines the great devotion to Mary is so prevalent among Catholics. We feel blessed to bet the only predominantly Christian/Catholic nation in Asia.

  • Beautifully done I wish I had heard this version of the ave maria before I had my husbands funeral Mass, so I could've had this ave maria played during holy communion

  • How had I never heard of this before now? I've been listening to different versions of Ave Maria since I was 14 and it took me till 21 to find this? she sounds like a bell.

  • ME QUEDE SIN PALABRAS.

  • BENDICENOS VIRGEN MARIA!

  • Fabuloso!! realmente Divino!!!!

  • can somebody upload this movie?

  • My grandmother introduced me to her movies at a young age, I'm 34 now and love her voice. My gran died a year ago today and listening helps!!

  • A fantastic composition and a fantastic singer!

  • So beautiful... totally enchanting...

  • As a classically trained singer, I would have to say that the Bach version is most difficult. The phrasing in the score is laborious and very demanding in terms of breath support. In the last measure, as the score rises to its highest and the open "o" in the word hora followed by the difficult wording of mortis nostre is unrelenting. The two "Amens" at the end must be precise and even with a great deal of energy t produce at pianissimo. The purity in the voice is also rare.

  • this is the best female version of this song i have ever heard, she sings it perfectly.

  • The four (4) who did not like this voice/video, etc., must be Klingons....

  • @outoftunefiddler Now THAT is funny. Klingons! And while I sometimes act like one, thankfully I did not this time. Otherwise, I wish I had thought of that. Thank you. Most sincerely.

  • Fantastic...wow

  • give me another break!! again i say this is not real...how can a woman sing as beautiful as she looks???

  • To think she sang like a young woman at 13 of age! She was very picky when doing a movie. If she made the smallest mistake she would make them re-tape. I guess I would have too, knowing that once old or when dead, I would have the musicals I sang in left behind. The live radio broadcasts where what they were: when Deanna sang live at thriteen and on. Never the less, she sang to perfection even if she thought she hadn't. We soloists are always our own worse enemy .

  • @MsLindaKaren Well there are so many ways to do it, when you are a singer. That is why it is so easy to criticize one self, and of course always wanting to create what is in your own head. (When what you create may not be what you imagine). But I totally agree with you, her being able to do this at such a young age, is amazing! I've seen a few. They always amaze me!

  • this is possibly one of the most beautiful versions of ave maria ive ever heard she is an amazing singer and actor . I adore this song!

  • I have always preferred Gounod's Ave Maria as opposed to Schubert's.Durbin performs this like an anthem to The Blessed Virgin,Mary, rather than simply a hymn of praise!

    Great to have found this.

  • I like this version. Her singing is so beautiful. Ommmmmmmm I wish I can hear this song sung by her in my way to see God in the future.

  • @udon890 i couldnot agree more.

  • shes sings like an angel luv this song the old ones are the best

  • does anyone know where i can find the sheet music for this or the lyrics or anything ?

  • Thanks for posting this..Its just lovely...

  • i just love a good ave maria :)

  • DURBIN was SUPERIOR to ALL THE SOPRANOS who perform on the professional stage. The Impressarios should listen to quality not insist on the hooty, bellowing that has taken over the opera.

  • The pure and natural voice expressed with real honesty is the most beautiful thing you could hear. Listen to John McCormack (Gounod) and Tito Schipa (Mascagni) sing - quite sublime as well.

  • I get goose bumps every time I hear deanna sing this lovely song....

best of the best in my view...

  • absolutely gorgeous

  • so beautiful.

  • Belíssima voz! Fui fã da Deanna desde pequena

    Valeu!

    Elma

  • Lovely

  • don't hear music like this anymore.

  • What do you mean? Ave Maria is one of the most widely sung songs in the world? The Vienna Boys choir isn't exactly doing pop now either.

  • The way it was meant to be sung!

  • bonito

  • One of the 3 most beautiful voices in history !!!

    1.Montserrat Caballe

    2.Rosa Ponselle

    3.Deanna Durbin

  • montsy. There are others too. Not just these three. How about Caruso?

  • @montsyblackmadonna 1. Beverly Sills, Beverl Sills Beverly Sills and Denna Durbin. PERIOD!

  • always enjoy her singing and her movies. When ever I need a lift I listen to her on cd or watch one of her many movies on dvd

  • True, based on your statement on the sound equipment, In 1932,1933 you heard one quality of sound and then hearing the sound quality say in 1937 was different.

  • I really do appreciate that she kept it so simple. I think (that's MY opinion) that this is how this song was always meant to be. Simple.

  • @DandelionFairy

I really hate all those opera singers' voices, heavy and overloaded with never-ending vibratos, sometimes bordering (or even quite) a loud shout that hurts my ears. This song is originally a humble prayer. Who has ever heard of a being so vain as to address God with pompous singing techniques ? I think you can sing beautifully without overdoing it, keeping it simple like Deanna does. A little bit of humility can't harm.

  • Excellent

  • Thank God she is still alive and living in France! Lovely Durbin!

  • Deanna is superb..

one of classical actress that has quality even to this date...

  • her singing is beautiful OMG I wanna sing like that

  • Awesom,Awesom, her voice realy tuches your hart...

  • Thank you very much for uploding this video! There is so much ugliness in the world these days that it is absolutely necessary to watch beautiful films and listen to beautiful music. I really miss the time when there was real beauty without anything vulgar in it!

  • She had a great talent. Her singing is so pure and her breath control is perfect.

  • the best singer from the best choir ever :)

  • WOW. Powerful.

  • Hail Holy Queen Mother Mary

  • she was just 15 when she sings this? gorgeous man...

  • Stunning! What a performance! Does anyone know the name of the movie this is from.

  • "Mad About Music"..

read the description in the sidebar

  • What a joy it is to see and hear this song sung with such innocence and simplicity.

  • Awesome. Thanks for posting! You don't hear much about her. But her voice is off the hook.

  • Good things never get old. Thanks for sharing a beautiful rendition of a beautiful song.

  • a beautiful song for a beautiful voice

  • It's impossible to multitask during Deanna Durbin videos. I'm transfixed!

    Thank you for posting!

  • Deanna Durbin was my dear father's favourite singer, he suggested I listen to her when I was a child. Only now forty years later, now I realise he was right. Her music is available on Amazon.

  • Who is the young man at 0:41, he doesn't seem to long much older than Deanna.

  • 15 years old? are you kidding? wow amazing! shes great! completely wonderfull

  • oh my lord i love her voice . so sweet , i wanna find some music from her . somebody knows if i can find it on cd . please let me know

  • Acabo de conocer esta cantante ¡Maravillosa!

  • es la primera vez que la escucho y he quedado prendado de su dulce voz !!! quiero conseguir su musica es algo maravilloso !!!

  • beautiful!

  • wow....... nice...

  • This reminds me of the 2nd to last scene in the "Miricle of Our Lady of Fatima" movie (from the 50's) when the Sun reverted back to the sky and the people where healed.

  • Recuerdo a la Sra; Durbin cantando" You are always in my heart " del maestro Ernesto Lecuona, creo que lo cantaba

mientras estaba en una lancha ......Maravillosa .....

  • Music is one of the greatest gifts the catholic church brought to the world.

  • This brings tears to my eyes. Thank you for this. I believe it is better than the Shubert version, although I enjoyed it, too. You did an excellent job of improving the quality of the music. +5

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • She carried that choir.

    Lovely.

  • I am a catholic who came in through RCIA and this is one of my favorite songs GOD BLESS YOU for posting this

  • She was 15?!?!? Outstanding!

  • THIS is way ALL SOPRANOS should SOUND, but it is a LOST ART, because it is a NATURAL APPROACH to SINGING

The VOICE TEACHERS (?) TODAY are ACCOUSTICALLY CHALLENGED

  • 796824. You are correct. It is the sound that Sister Mary Leo tried to copy with her pupils including Malvina Major and Kiri Te Kanawa. Later Renee Fleming tried to copy Kiri's voice. Deanna was a genius. Rostropvitch said that her voice was the closest to perfection, and he tried to copy it in his cello playing.

  • The sentiment of Ave Maria does nothing for me, having been raised as a Presbyterian,.............

but that voice and Deanna's backing!!!

  • a heavanly voice from a sweet lovely person. its so good to see and hear

  • In Spain RED republica forbide Deanna s movies because she sang Ave Marias..after the civil war all of her films came to cinemas

  • I am not sure of that because "Three Smart Girls" and "One Hundred Men and a Girl" have not any religious conections and were the two first and very big hits of Deanna. On the other hand these films did not show in Franco's side during the Spanish Civil War. "Three Smart Girls" were showed for the first time in Spain in 1939 at the end of the war as many other movies produced during 1936-1939.

  • how sad... Unfortunately, America is going anti-religious too... Dumb dictators........

  • Well thankfull the Latin Mass (the liturgy this was composed for) is making a come back.

  • The music in itself is a testament to the beauty and sollemnity of the Traditional Tridentine Latin Mass. This is a great example.

  • Thank you! I, myself being a Traditional Catholic...could have not stated it better. Gratias!

  • @dacatholicbandorgan Some people forget that the mass of the 1970 Roman Missal approved by Pope Paul VI is in Latin and that it incorporates uses from 500 and 1,000 years before the 1570 Mass! The Church did not begin at Trento, nor did it end there. The unfortunate thing is that here in the US the Catholic Church has ignored the exhortation of Vatican II that where the vernacular (people's) language is approved the people should know how to respond in Latin as well !

  • My mother commented that having heard her live it is just as true in her movies.

You took a shot at Audrey Hepburn and others who lip sync'd...yes they did...the actual singer was a lady known as Marni Nixon. She was sister Margarethe in the sound of music.

  • WOW THIS IS BREATHTAKING!!!!!!!

  • ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING! WISH I COULD SING LIKE THAT!

my mum told me my granny could sing like that but why werent the bloody genes passed on to me :L

  • Beautiful. It is hard to believe what would have followed the performance. Hitler and the war...

  • What a rare and beautiful talent. I think Ms. Durbin may still be alive and living in Europe (possibly France).

  • Beautifully angelic.....

  • Excellent !

  • Okay, in this clip, her voice sounds the way an 18-year-old's would sound (if that 18-year-old matured into a great soprano, that is). In the clips of her singing at 18, her voice sounds fully matured. How did she have such a grown-up, beautiful voice?

  • A bit short changed here,

Thanks for dholl17 for pointing out that the boys choir you see is the St. Luke's Choristers from Long Beach, CA. However they are just mouthing the words that Deanna Durbin and the Vienna Boys Choir had already recorded.

  • Beautiful!!

  • This is my favorite version of Ave Maria. It's more powerful and melodic.

  • Wonderful and great moment, precious.

  • My twin sister and I (now in are 60's) grew up with Deanna and we loved all her movies and watched almost all of them. Thanks so much for bringing back such wonderful memories. Deanna Durbin was awesome at such a young age

  • Even if she couldn't sing, she'd still be the best actress of all time.

  • Amazing. Don't have enough words to describe. Thanks.

  • I really enjoyed this. Thanks for all the other Deanna Durbin selections. She was really great. Just 15 years old!
