The early HL stuff wasn't good, but the later stuff, including the Jagdpanther is excellent. The only thing you don't get as standard is decent sound. There are stacks of aftermarket goodies to uprate them cheaply too. Depends whether you are a modeller or whether you can only open a box and switch something on?
Take a look at my Tiger vids and show me a Tamiya that good? Tamiya compatible IR battle system, no toy town mushroom. Sounds better too. Tamiya is for kids, not modellers.
Ok sonny, now tell us what 'you' have built. Show me your Tamiya Tiger 1 with that sound system, inertia braking, scale speed, programmable sound (it will shortly be the only one in the world with a sound file recorded off the only running Tiger 1 in the world), gunner and commander voices, and a totally concealed IR system. Any brainless fool can say 'I know someone who is a genius and they said that...'. Show us 'your' talent, show us 'your' ability, or don't you have any?
Heng Long tanks are crap! They fall apart right out of the box, and are produced inaccurate because of infringment. Heng Long copies Tamiya's tanks so they change things around so they cant get sued.
I have put my HL Jagdpanther next to a Tamiya Jagdpanther and they are 99% identical. Wheels, tracks, shell etc. I have seen the new tanks that HL are about to produce, and there are some surprises in store. I can't say any more than that.

Your Tiger sucks. I showed it to a real modeler and he just laughed and asked what kind of children's toy it was.

heng long does have models which tamiya doesn't! (pz III)
I noticed the inaccuracy too when I was measuring my 1:16 Tiger I.... :-(
One thing I can't forgive is that their panthers use tiger chassis... it ruins the whole goddamn tank no cheap price can make up for that!

Ehmmmm, this is weird....
wheels and tracks are from the tiger so,
you converted a TIGER to a JAGDPANTHER.
-_-
wrong tank..... lol
:S

that's wrong!
This model is based on a Heng Long Panther!! The problem is Heng Long that used wheels and tracks from his tiger......
