  • Disgraceful! suggesting that the hindu notions of the small through to the large cycles of the universe are an ACCIDENT! The ancient Indian civilisations were very advanced even 5000 years ago. Their deep meditations on reality gave us many insights such as many fundamental mathematical formula. These are the people who invented the numbers 0-9, infinity and others.

  • I immediately noted the contemptuous mood of this presenter. For example his hands gesture when saying "corresponds" and then adding "no doubt by accident". Watching this, I now understand why the Vedas contain an inbuilt labyrinth of deluding theories to fool such insincere persons.

  • im religious n proud to be Hindu.

    LONG LIVE HINDUS

  • is it just me or does he sound like Mr Smith from 'The Matrix'?

  • No cosmologist can consider himself or herself untill the knowledge of cosmology of ancient hindu philosophy is taken on board, specially the concept of multiverse, death ,destruction and creation of universe.

  • Nice Video the Hindu faith is very beautiful!

  • Carl Sagan offers a interesting couple of scenarios which are both realistically developed theories. But the oscillating theory involves nothing with validation, only theoretically plausible phenomena. But the theory of continual expansion until a petering out death occurs, is supported by the validly observable entropic effect. The death of stars & other events have already been observed. The direction of everything in the universe is consistent with that entropy is universally ever increasing

  • Amongst living organisms on Earth, there even seems to be a macro & a micro entropy occurring. On the macro level, it's known that organisms used to be larger & lived longer in the past. On the micro, organisms are born, generate growth & eventually succumb to entropy & die. Everything suggests there will be a total death of all things

"Though heaven & earth may pass away my word shall endure forever"

  • we've been here before, and we'll be here again, with a slight difference (the next time through, I want to be Rich and have hair!)

  • Great Video.....Hinduism is Unique ...

  • i don't believe in accidents.

  • i do

  • yeah what does he mean by accident!?

  • he's being sarcastic about the usual western perception of hinduism.

  • @avisbaby he's being sarcastic.

  • OMG- this sounds like the Hindu religion is describing string theory and M-theory. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this video.

  • Not only this likewise General Theory of Relativity was common known phenomenon in ancient Indian text. further to that there are instances of travel around time where it is said that time itself doesn't go with same pace everywhere. Time can slow down as well as speedup. It is said that in one year of cosmos many milleniums are passed on earth. Seers who are said to have traveled cosmos experienced this difference in the speed of time. History of science is not few 100 years as we assume now

  • Thanks,

  • im Hindu

  • can any1 tell me where i can get all the vedas- english version

  • Read Upanishads or Bagavad Gita. if there is any Vedanta society in your area, probably you may ask them.

  • Hymn in RIG VEDA : 'A time is envisioned when the world was not, only a watery chaos (the dark, "indistinguishable sea") and a warm cosmic breath, which could give an impetus of life. Notice how thought gives rise to desire (when something is thought of it can then be desired) and desire links non-being to being (we desire what is not but then try to bring it about that it is). Yet the whole process is shrouded in mystery.'

  • Is time travel possible?

  • Theoretically, yes. Take some classes in theoretical physics and you'll understand how and why.

  • Time travel backwards in time is logically impossible. However, Traveling forward in time has been coherent since Relativity theory.

  • You may copy and paste this, as it has no copyright:

What is God? Is God an entity which exists in a paradise, controlling all existance? No, God is all existance. We all shine with the brilliance of god. We have capabilities beyond the expectations of common known scientific knowledge. We shine with a divine intelligence, a capability to think, to process. All living things have this capability.

We are a part of God, a part of God is us.

Hindu belief believed by myself; by God.......

  • great words

  • help the world be a better place help the world by copying and paste this on youtube make the world a better place just remeber this if u think bad u will c bad things if u think good u will see good things.......

nothing is perfect in this world eveything has its loopholes make people think what the world has become

  • Thanks for posting this video!

I was looking what Hinduism had to say about the big bang theory

  • Every religion has something that breaks the scientific rules. But it is the only thing that can provide human with complete mental peace.

  • Science is simply another religion.

  • I am sorry. The word "hindu" is not found anywhere in the vedas.

The British and the Mohammedeans spread this word "hindu" as a racial slur to disempower the people of India, so they would be mislead and more easily exploited.

Why would they do that? What are they trying to cover up? I wonder...

  • I'm a hindu, and thought that the vedas were the oldest sacred texts of hinduism?

  • True, Hindu was a term invented by Muslims and Christians.

They wanted to name the nameless path because they wanted it to look like their religions.

  • Ram is an avatars a super soul who is sent by the Master of the world Lord shiva to safe gard the world his Mission was to destroy Ravana and by the command and blessing of Shivji he was successful in his task of duty The Creator never takes birth in Human form he send his Men or super souls like Vishnu Rama Krishna many more that's why they worship Lord Shiva

    Har Har MahaDev

  • There is only one God. We just worship God by various methods. God is like the big blue ocean, all religions and beliefs are like rivers and streams. Humankind is the drop of water. It doesn't matter which river or stream you take, as long as you walk in faith and live in truth. It is what is in your heart that matters. Look with your heart and not with your eyes. God lives in us and all around us. God is in everything that is living. Peace and Love to all who reads this message.

  • welll said.

  • yes i agree totally..your mind is open

  • very interesting...

  • I had a lot of respect for this guy. But within the first 10 seconds, I lost all of it.

what the hell does he mean "no doubt by accident"????

  • He was being sarcastic.. if you read his books, you see that he has nothing but respect for Hinduism.. but he knows that people try to claim Hinduism's truths as 'accidents' that's why he says it..

  • Satyaannaastiparodharmah

  • It is only by an accident - without substantiation - that Carl Sagan says the ancient Hindu scriptures [citing Rishis/Superhuman seers, of an immemorial past] have come out with figures of the repeating age of our cosmos that are cose to today's estimates derived in science using 4 dimensional maths. [3 for space + one for time].Sagan's unwitting eulogizing of Hindu seers' discovery is left-handed due to this misuse of 'accident' in this video on Hindu cosmology using temple depictions.

  • For religious contepts search on google "Swami ramsukhdasji books"

Documents present in English and all Indian langauge

  • it is amazing that people of 5000 years ago can come out with such accurate theory of our universe, even though it's more of a philosphy.

this is so much intersting then genesis.

  • surely its way before 5000 years ago.

  • hinduism is the truth of the universe, hinduism tells us that u should not get to attached to material objects, not even ur physical body.

  • "no doubt by accident"? Stupid anglo think indians are too savage to know cosmology long before whites ever did. Colonialist pig, he & his ilk will fall by Durga's sword.

  • i like the fact that hinduism is the only religion that is closet to sciencetiolgy and religion like islam is a disease for out planet...

  • So much wrong Info about Hinduism here: Its NOT POLYTHEISTIC. The so many gods are demigods or devta, they are not the one bhagavaan.

Read bhagvatam, you'll know all cosmic truths as they are in scriptures. (Canto 3 last few chapters)

  • Man, carl sagans. Great video, pure spiritual religion and philosophy I think. As west says: Science is merging with eastern religions. People will feel it later I guess, I don't know I want to talk to CArl

  • "Without doubt by accident ??" Yes of course for ethnocentric western...

After Hindu cosmology, 155 Trillion years have elapsed since the Big Bang or Brahma's Brith...!!! We are only in the 51th year of Brahma's life..!! 49 Brahma years remaining until the birth of the next universe or Brahma !!

  • MR Sagan perhaps meant to say that the finding was not a result of a research project of the type he and others understands [laboratory, observatory, telescope, multidisciplinary team of scientists,..]but due to serendipity, a term, in vogue for the past few decades, which not all in the audience might understand. Thus Sagan may not be under-estimating Hindu seers' discovery of this Brahma age of an ever expanding universe. But his mindset is narrowly defined with the (warring) modern scientists.

  • Hinduism is the world's oldest religion with the oldest scriptures. It is the root of all other religions that came later. No human founder known like in other religions. That is because God is the founder. Vedic scripture is the beginning of everything. First medicine "ayurveda" and endless knowledge. Before any other India is the holy land. Sanatana Dharma, or eternal religion. God is one, but in many unlimited forms and aspects at the same time.

  • truely right my brother

  • He is mistaken when he says the only religion with such long time scales. Buddhism has similar time scales and even longer ones.

  • Hasn't Buddhism derived most of its thoughts from Hinduism? Siddhartha was born a Hindu and learnt from Brahmins and Rishis..So the mother religion would be Sanatana Dharma(The name Hinduism is a western invention).

  • Buddhism comes from the Vedas.

  • no it dnt, i cnt remember the exact dates, but we wer tought at school dat it came 2nd...i think budh bhgvan was hindu...nt 2 sure...hmmm...i think im gona go look dese 2 tings up now

  • isnt Budism a branch of Hinduism??

  • Buddhism is all part of Hinduism and it was created out of it just eliminating some aspects of it like the caste system and many gods(its apprently one, just multiple manifestations of the ultimate =)

  • Buddhism came out of Hinduism. It is a pardigm shift from Advaita Vedanta one of the 6 forms of Vedanta.

  • was this part of "cosmos" ? Carl Sagan is awesome; I'm not surprised that he too realized the plausibility of sanatana dharma.

  • Definitely a part of Sagan's 13 part "Cosmos" series. He did an amazing job of popularizing science without talking down to the public, as previous attempts to do the same had been.

  • fucking amazing

  • Great deal of truth and knowledge from this culture. Think on a grand scale and try to explain the idea of existence. Always been fascinated by this culture. Very scientific, mathematical and astronomical culture. Om Shanti !

  • SANATAM DHARAM.

  • This narrator is an idiot...."no doubt by accident" mmmm quantum physics would have been laughed at 100 yrs ago...and now. Hinduism will eventually be proved correct and right. HAR HAR MAHADEV.

  • he he he Good one bro!;)...But this guy is no idiot,He's Carl Sagan...and he's a hindu! He's just maintaining the cover that all white dogs do...to state that what they find is destiny and what ohters find is by accident! Take cares bro :)

  • It's a relevant caution. Unless you know why something is true, then you are merely asking whether to have faith or skepticism. Since skepticism causes people to ask questions, and faith does not, skepticism is the more rational response. That is, we demand more than a book. We demand evidence; a reason to believe.

  • This is not a war.

  • "no doubt by accident" hahaha rite

  • Its called evolution.50 billions yrs ago asteroids with microscopic organisms striked earth.2000 generations ago,so called man travelled from Africa to Central asia.Check out National Geographic genome studies it corresponds to Hindu descriptions.

  • that's amazing!

  • Hmm.. Lets just say Hindu is a true way of life.. so where did the first man come from? I mean Adam and Eve? or something else, is there Hinduism even before first man was created or POOF! came to be?? Dont be offended.. Its a Question for those willing to answer

  • I dont think that there was only one set of first man and first woman. or else all of us will be sister fuckers! :)) I hope you got my point here! What I think is in every continent there was a few or several Men and women evolving at the same time.

  • hinduism talks abt creation and destrcution ( great flood or known as pralaya)manyimes.a great king saves the humanity at every great flood he is known as "Manu".

a day of Brmha( creator) is some trillion years.

you an google it out , if you prefer use key words like Manu, brahma

  • your questions are loaded to say the least but nonetheless, I shall try to explain to the best of my ability.

    1. "Hinduism" never claims to be the "true way of life" like islam/christianity/judaism. Sanathana Dharma, its real 'name', loosely translates to "timeless order". In other words, the way things are.

  • 2. Hinduism ascribes to a sort of theistic evolutionary theory. meaning there is a 'higher order' (Brahman) but this universe and others have a temporal reality. What this means is that everything that takes place within this universe (earth etc.) may follow a set of rules (physics) but there is an underlying order. Nothing other than Brahman has absolute reality. In fact, the "Dasavatara" of Vishnu is in essense evolutionary theory but on a broader scale.

  • 3. Again, Hinduism just refers to the intrinsic nature of reality so essentially yes, Hinduism was, is, and always will be. It's infinite, like the supramental consciousness referred to in the Upanishads as "Brahman". Read about it and don't get side-tracked by the constant bad PR it (has been) gets worldwide; mainly due to the seemingly 'strange' rituals. Remember, yoga, meditation, and questioning the nature of reality owe their origin to Hinduism.

  • If you spell his name correctly, you'll get more view. His name is Carl Sagan, not "sagens".

  • Excellent video. Thanks Aumprakash.

  • that is so beyond thought! eastern religions such as hinduism often promote this idea of the cosmic cycle. same with the chinese model of time of a cosmic circle. birth..death..rebirth. amazing!much better than the 7 days stuff..

  • Excellent video.Keep it up.

  • Good videos you are posting.

  • "No doubt by accident" was really sarcastic haha...Carl Sagan was the man....

  • I think it's unfortunate he couldn't get past himself and admit the obvious - there's a type and way of "knowing" which seems to get results, but offers little that can be "weighed" or otherwise measured...which of course, is to be expected of anything claiming to be a science of subjective experience - y'know, that basic "being" within which we perceive everything else, including that which we call "empirical". All is mind folks, and mind is rooted in Being.

  • Great video thank you very much.

  • Thanks for this vid. Awesome.

  • This is really awesome. Thanks for posting.

  • Interesting! Where do you find such nice video clips? Please continue posting them. I enjoy viewing your channel.
