  • Love the video, well done and thank you. :)

  • Can u grow High John from the root is it is soaked in moonwater for a couple days?

  • This was a very good video and explanation. I blessed mine during eclipse in a sacred circle . . . the stone was an interesting touch.

  • i have a high the conqueror root, and i have agreen mojo bag,but i dont know how to make it workand yeah i have money drawining oil and some other things help please!

  • Awesome tips

  • thank you!

  • WHAT OIL R U USING?

  • 'i got my roots from lucky mojo company online' the comment spoken in this video, and the comment left in response to 'boyinthemachine' seem to be contradictory. Time to check in with your 'Inner Truth' perhaps? Besides, his comment was a little harsh considering the furthest you went in describing their scent was 'earthy' which ....makes sense because.... IT'S A ROOT!

  • Finally a sweet "normal" witch - why oh why can't all be that way?? besides that I have to compliment you (or did I miss that) that you don't use stinky perfumes to cover up the natural aroma of the base of which you are seeking favors of~ thumbs up!

  • @MagickalHummingbird u are soo right on that. i visit that site alot.

  • As an eclectic hoodoo practitioner living in Ireland, I find it pretty much impossible to get High John locally. There are very few new age shops near me, and none of them sell any herbs. Can you recommend a herb or root that has a similar effect that would be more easily found in western Europe?

    <3

  • @selenethewhitewolf order it online. if u use a substitute, it usually won't have the

    same effect.

  • @fervent66 Hon, if that was a suitable option for me, I wouldn't be posting about it here, I'd have it already.

  • @fervent66 Hon, if that was a suitable option for me, I wouldn't be posting about it here, I'd have it already.

  • @selenethewhitewolf

You can substitute horse chestnut aka buckeye for High John.

  • @brideym Thank you for the info - where did you find that out? Are they related?

  • @selenethewhitewolf No, they're not related. High John is the root of a morning glory, related to the sweet potato. However, horse chestnut is a cognate in terms of metaphysical uses: it's used to draw luck, money, and success in all endeavors. It's masculine, its element is fire, planet Jupiter. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and growth. High John is masculine, fire, Mars. I got most of my info from Cunningham's "Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs". Hope this helps!

  • @brideym

    O_O

Hi John is the root of a morning glory?

    *facepalm*

    >_> ok, thank you so much, after I'm done kicking myself, I will go down to the local plant shop and get some.

    Again, thanks.

    >_<

  • @selenethewhitewolf Specifically it's the root of Ipomoea jalapa, sometimes known as Ipomoea purga, so check the Latin nomenclature before you buy.

  • @brideym I need to get that book really bad.

    b/b)O(

  • @selenethewhitewolf You can also find more info about buckeyes on the Lucky Mojo Curio Cos. site

  • Charmed One your the best you seem to always know just what I need goodness you more than magical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Thank you so much Flora! You are a blessing.

  • where do you suggest getting the dark blue bottles? I know you must put ooils in dark bottles preferably blue to keep them from weakenign and ruining because of light.

  • @ChaosSun1976 there is

they sell dark bottles. cobalt blue as a matter of fact. i think, there droppers too.

  • i have some of that oil i use it as a candle dressing to give my spells extra strength

  • Hi Flora, I love you! You just solved my problem on how to make my witchy oils! Now with this technique I can afford to have many kinds of working oils rather than buying them and wondering if they are in fact natural or not. It also saves a lot of money in the long run if you make and need a lot of oils like I do. Please continue making videos like this, they're so helpful. I have my High John and Flying D-oil oils already cooking, next one will be third eye! Hugs.

  • Courage, protection...sounds very amazing. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • I hate asking but where do you get your citrine from? Yours is in small bits perfect for oil cleansing & I can't find it like that. The reason why I feel uncomfortable asking is that I know who ever you mention will be set for life as a citrine seller. For example, if I could make you fall in love with my homemade soap, I know others would flock to buy it too. However, I simply can not find citrine as you have it. I wish you could put links of your suppliers as a perm reference, on your page.

  • Nevermind, just viewed the last video in today's series and got my question answered.

  • @Species710 u can still, get a citrine. but, the only way is to send the link or

website, by a " private message ". thats the only way, 2 get it across somebody.

or, let someone know who sells it. i know of some sites that do.

hit me up, if anyone needs help in finding a crystal shop.

  • hey, i live by lucky mojo... cool.

  • have you ever tried 13moons? they have a huge variety of herbs/seeds/oils etc ^^ love your videos!

  • To be honest I have never been able to get ahold of High John the Conqurer.

  • @KingtheQueen

Try looking for just "John the conqueror" root. The "high" part is only used to distinguish it from the other 2 "john" roots, low john and little john. The most commong name for the root in this video is John the Conqueror root, minus the "high".

  • Mmmmm I'll have to try looking again. Thank you for the info Machine

  • @BoyintheMachine

That is not true . . . it is important that you have the "High" as this particular root comes from West Africa.

  • I'm really enjoying the oil series you're posting!

  • TOTALLY AGREE!

  • Oh my gosh . . . oh my gosh . . . High John root. .. gotta get some of this ASAP!!! What an AWESOME vid!! Thank you for doing this sweetie!! XO!

  • thank you so much

  • I can't seem to find the person you mentioned on etsy. Can you give me her name?

  • How To Make John The Conqueror Root Oil

    Items needed:

John the Conqueror Root (Ipomoea Jalapa)

    Almond Oil

    Purple dye

    Cedar Chips

Place the root and cendar chips in a bottle and top with the oil you have dyed purple. Set aside for a month or more until the oil is scented by the cedar chips. (It gives it an "earthy" smell. The root has no smell.) Pour into individual bottles that contain at least one piece of root. Voila! You now have John the Conqueror Root oil.

  • High John has a very distinct and strong odor. If your High John root is odorless, than it isn't High John.

  • @CharmingPixieFlora

I think there is some confusion, John the Conqueror roots have no noticable odor when dry. Cat Yronwode, the owner of LuckyMojo, uses cedar chips to scent her John the Conqueror root items and mighe even dress the roots prior to sale. Smell the roots again. If they smell like cedar then they have been dressed with oil.

(FYI: I have several whole roots. The largest one I keep as a pocket piece.)

  • I beg to differ....regardless of your place of purchase, True High John Root has an odor. I did not get the roots I have from Lucky Mojo. I got them from another herbal/root shop online.

  • My High John the conqueror Root oil smells like a variation of sweet potato as well as some variation of Moonflower (also in Ipomoea/morning glory family). They all have that sweet smelling scent that somewhat lingers. The thing is, some people cannot smell moonflowers because of a genetic disposition, they just can't smell it at all because they are lacking that smell receptor. I'm wondering if that's the same thing with John the Conqueror Root since they are part of the same family.

  • Can somebody check this factoid though? I read it from one source and I don't feel comfortable until I read it from at least three to four different publications.

  • @CharmingPixieFlora But... you mention in the beginning of the video that you got it from Lucky Mojo...(?)

  • @CharmingPixieFlora

I got mine from Lucky Mojo and they definitely have a smell.

  • @ Boyinthemachine I have cedar chips and high john root they both smell very different even my master key root(which is very old) has a smell. Cat Yronwode prides her self on getting the real thing. Maybe you have (SOUTHERN JOHN ROOT): True name is Trillium but it is known as Beth Root. That one does not have a smell.

  • @Krazyboytx

Nope. I have John the conqueror root. If you want a pic of mine, send me a message.

I have taken Cat's course. I know she uses Cedar chips to scent her John the Coqnueror root oil. She told us. It's the cedar chips that gives the oil it's "earthy" smell. My biggest John the conqueror root has been dressed by me, but my smaller ones have not been dressed and have no noticable smell.

Again, shoot me a msg if you want a pic of my John the Conqueror roots.

  • @BoyintheMachine i totally agree with u.

  • @BoyintheMachine CharmingPixieFlora is correct; High John DOES have an odor....a very spicy odor. Your Snake Oil Salesman Jewess is an idiot. Addin cedar to High John can highly effect the useages of your High John Oil. Lucky Mojo is just a money making scheme.

  • @CharmingPixieFlora In my opinion high john root is more for male power and not something that females should use. I prefer devil's shoelace. What do you think?

  • @CharmingPixieFlora

This is true . . . I worry when I read that we have someone using dye and cedar chips to pretend . . . why do that? The smell is a bit similar to the smell of old money . . .

  • @BoyintheMachine

Okay which dummy gave 'thumbs down' to Cat Yronwode's recipe for John the Conqueror Oil? Silly people.

  • what's the name of that cleanser stone?

  • @BoyintheMachine

I know this was posted a while ago now, but High John the Conquerer root most certainly has a distinctive and fairly strong smell. I have several with me right now, no questions.

Additionally, Cat Yronwode gives her recipe for High John oil on page 111 of Hoodoo Herb and Root magic and there is nothing but the root (in two forms) and vegetable oil. Absolutely no cedar chips.

  • A great root oil!!!!!!! Great vid!!!!! A great item that goes in any mojo bag!!!!!!

  • Agreed!!!

    Thanks so much!

  • @kitinkler

    Yes (to all three questions)

  • one thing that might work is to try to use a metal rasp file,(made for filing metal)

it would result in more of a powder,,just an idea.

thanks agian for a very wonderful video

    BB

  • you always have such great insight thanks for the vids. ; )
