Hillel and Jack Irons were with What Is This who signed a record deal two weeks before RHCP did so they got Jack Sherman and Cliff Martinez to fill in for them. Hillel quit What Is This in 85' and then they recorded Freaky Styley with Cliff. Then Jack quit in 86' and they recorded Uplift which was the only one to have all of the original band members in AK, Flea, Hillel and Jack.

@MrPatto003 This album came out 4 years ago and John was with them for Mother's Milk, BSSM, Californication, By The Way and this album. They've only have 4 guitarist's that have actually made an album with them. Hillel, Sherman, Dave and John. Hillel overdosed, Sherman was a douche, Dave was on drugs and John quit in 1992 but came back in 1998 and he just quit in 09.

I've read Anthony Kiedis' book and he says that as soon as Chad auditioned for the band, they knew he was right for the Chilis as he could create a matching beat with no problem at all and even started challenging Flea's bass playing with his beats whilst jamming. He is a quality drummer, no doubt about that.

The standard riff of the guitar goes up at the end but comes of one note short. This is why its just on-beat and off-beat playing trough out the song. The drums just keep on doing what they are doing. Both the guitar/bas and the drummer have to make sure they fight the urge to start playing on-beat again :P nothing a little experienced band can't handle.
