hi, i have a starting problem too, after ruleing out other possible failures, it seems to be air intrution, no I will fit a clear return hose to confirm this. I spoke to a mitsubishi mechanic, the bushing of the fuel pump axle wears and gets play then the seal starts to leak. In case it s the seal in my case, how do I adjust the ignition point besides having it done at a shop ?
Fuel pump seal cost me 20 pound. I fit that by myself. EGR valve is plate is useful when engine is warm.
My car needs fuel injectors refurbish, and fuel pump as well. I have to mix regular diesel with SVO (it's thicker), it's not illegal, but stinks like fish and chips shop :D
@warczys thanks mate how long did it take to do the pump seal..mine starts then cuts out ..but then works grand all day..blanked the egr..plus new injectors still driveing me mad..blue smoke ..it,s a head fuck...
hi, how did u adjust the injction point ? Where are the dead point marks ? can you give me a brake down, i seem to have the same problem, it is so hard to find a mechanic that you can trust here in South America.
@warczys my dads 2.8 pajero had exactly the same problem it used to cut out after about 30 secs of bein running then youd start it again and itd be fine he had fuel pump seals done and refurbished injectors, not cheap at alll

It's seal on fuel pump. find one on eBay. It's cheap, but you have to remove fuel pump and fit the seal. Don't worry seller probably can give you fitting instructions.
part 2 first thing i did was change the fuel line from the main filter to the injector pump with clear reinforced tubing and also the fuel return tube,reason being is if you are drawing in air then you will see it in the fuel and either way you will see if fuel is moving through the system.
biodiesel contains methanol and it seems that methanol will degrade the pump seal on 2.8 models although 2.5 models seem to be ok as mine has been on bio for two years. continued.

if it an inport pajaro sometimes people put in an extra disel fiter above the tank if so remov it and put in a peace of pipe and replace anf fules lines that look corroded and sometimes a hole new asembly up by the engin u can use universalone done this a few times at work now on there and has help on then. also the cold start can sometimes het stuck on wich will give it to much disel but to be honest thats more of a black smoke when that happens.
I think it's too scared considering the grim reaper is pushing the pedal. No wonder it died.

is that a GDI engine? if it is than it has GDI problem. also your engine eats oil so this is cause of blue smoke.

Grazie per questo video che hai pubblicato, spero che mi servirà a risolvere i problemo della mia Pajero 2800 del 1999.
Ho ordinato su ebay il Kit pompa diesel e il kit per escludere EGR.
Quando avro fatto questi lavori alla mia macchina spero che non mi darà problemi.
Mi piace molto lo scarico della tua Pajero, ha un bellissimo sound...
Dove la posso trovare? Costa molto?

@JnDCustoms That's why I just did seal on fuel pump. Refurbishment of fuel injectors are expensive anyway. I'm not surprised it wasn't cheap!

have you been using bio diesel.

Because I bought that car with it, and the steering wheel is crap either - lot better is original (I cant see speedometer!).
Now I'm changing and refurbishing everything, there is no time for exhaust yet...

I had one that was doing a similar thing, turned out to be the EGR valve, blanked it off and its been fine since.
