When Tabitha's Secret was starting out in Orlando, they actually posted a phone # on cassettes 2 buy at their shows and I called and asked if I could tape their next show. Rob was cool enough 2 say, bring a blank tape, we will give u a copy..this is when their show's were $5 or so a pop. Got lucky enough 2 hear this one at a private party at their house with about 50 other people. They def were good 2 their local fans, no star attitude though u knew already they were going 2 to go far!
This song is amazing. I get chills every time I hear it. I didn't even know that Rob Thomas was in another band besides Matchbox Twenty, so needless to say this band is my new obsession.
Rob Thomas has been my favorite singer for as long as i can remember so i bet you all can guess how excited i was when i found out Rob sang for this band!! I love Matchbox 20 sooo much and Tabitha's secret just as much!!! Rob has to be the most talented singer-songwriter I've ever heard. Oh my god I'm so excited I found this band!!!!!!
@Pandasrule19 Not sure I could handle it live! Song still gives me shivers. Such a reminder of the worst kind of nightmare. Thanks for linking my comment, there is hope for anyone in this kind of situation even if it seems dark in the moment.
I think it just has that slight lutey, flutey gentle counting ..like a medieval quality. Stones and especially Led Zepplin, (many others) used this ..um..audio effect? Whatever you call it, I know it when I hear it...so wonderful. Better than greens, purples and maybe blues to my eyes. Ya know?
don't know why so many people are calling this creepy... its supposed to be. its not a cheerful subject matter. look up the backstory. (p.s. rob covered this song on the album "something more" that was released around the same time as "...something to be")

Well his band was named after Tabitha Holt a woman who will soon be sentenced to death with others for their crimes against humanity- and I can not wait!! I am going to sit and watch.
Stop lying about setting traps. Tabitha was involved and lying about her being set up won't work- that is what her criminal partners would want people to think but she was involved from the beginning. Give up the lies.
Tabitha is not 15 and was not 15 when she had me gang raped. She is 37 and when the military kills her and others including Robert Crider and family- I will rejoice.
Thank you for this ever so insightful album cover Eric. Who would've ever believed that The Ranch would've burned to the ground shortly after you made this! Three of the fondest memories of my entire life, which I'll take to my grave with me, are Tabitha's Secret, Addict Sunday, and Daryl Sons. This puts a lump in throat and leaves me speechless.
Fabulous, wrap ur hands around my neck PLEASE

This song was my marriage ... in every way. The last verse sends shivers up my spine.. because I have heard that before.. not set to music.
It also makes me hopful though :) I have come a million miles from this kind of pain. That is a good thing.

Beautiful. Reminds me of another time, another place. Jim Croce, only better. Or maybe similar.

querida joan
tu sabes k estaba "mal", no pude evitarlo
la cien mil vez k de herí

se k me creiste cuando dije k se acabo
te kedaste a mi lado pacientemente esperando comprensiva
tan enamorada con todas las caras k he enseñado
una vez perdono, dos veces soy idiota, tres veces puse mis manos alrededor de tu cuello
mientras duermes, estas durmiendo trankilamente
durmiendo y soñando
querida joan
no salgas por la puerta
porque si lo haces
creo k podria matarte

you know what I find funny? This is the band Rob Thomas was in before matchbox 20 but yet the cover art says "dont play with matches." hmmm
King2123 3 years ago
That's because they had some legal issue with matchbox about 3am. Google it and you'll find out why.
