I like Howard Dean. I don't always agree with him on everything (for example I think his analysis of the financial reform bill for example was off where he said it was an okayish piece of legislation, and I think it should have gone further), but the guy generally has the right ideas and good convictions. I think he'd also be more responsive to the population and the liberal base than Obama has been.

He understands the mentality of the people in power well and is good at explaining how being in that bubble effects someone. In Obama's case his advisers being largely establishment people Dean's analysis makes a lot of sense. It may not be the only factor but it is a significant one.
