Wow, that list sucks. Maine is a very beautiful state! There is Bar Harbor, OOB, Popham Beach, The Maine Mall I got lost in, but it is full of stores and goodies. Portland Sea Dogs are ok for 5 year olds, but fuck it if your older. If your sports fan then sure. The Marine Resources Museum, Acadia National Park, The FREAKING LOBSTER!, The lakes and Mountains are absolutely breathtaking, Tacoma lakes BEAUTIFUL! The Coasts of Maine, In Lewiston the one an only Davinci's Restaurant. Delicious!

On the "warring" issue:

Maine has long been a ship building state. We still have Bath Iron Works which is responsible for making warships to this day.

Fort Popham is located where the Kennebec River meets the Atlantic. Our capital city, Augusta, is inland on that river. Fort Popham was first in line to protect it from enemy ships as early back as the Revolutionary War up to WW1.

I'd say some of the best things we have, that I have personally experienced, are Portcon in Portland (June/July), American Folk Festival in Bangor (August), Reel Pizza in Bar Harbor, and Bar Harbor in general during the summer, and skiing down Sugarloaf in the winter

Also, hiking Mt. Katahdin to Baxter Peak is a pretty interesting experience.

I've lived in Maine for nine years.

In Bangor, there's a folk festival in August and Bar Harbor has great scenery and you can go whale watching. In the western part of the state, you can go whitewater rafting or skiing. Snowmobile trails are also common.

Fall foliage is beautiful and you can go trick-or-treating at Stephen King's house. The University of Maine's ice hockey team is sometimes pretty good and the Maine Center for the Arts on campus often has some interesting events.

Pathetic list! I live in Maine. We have the best Lobster in the world. The apalachian Trail ends here. We have plenty of huge freshwater lakes. We have a beautiful coastline where movie stars have homes. Stephen King lives right here in Bangor where I happen to live. We have some cool forts from the revolutionary war period. Kayaking, Hiking, Camping, sports, We have a 40 ft tall Paul Bunyan statue and a casino. Plenty of resorts. Fall foliage, Awesome snow mobiliing. Lighthouses etc...
