I never knew that in this life time I would become a cat owner We found a batch of kittens under my house. The cats were malnourished and very dirty. Took all of them to the shelter they all got adopted I stayed with one she's a Beautiful Calico. Next time I will adopt an older cat because now that my cat is about a yr old her true personality came out (shes a bitch) hahaha but I LOVE her to death she will always be my spoiled kitty. But hopefully she'll get along with her new playmate :)
Your absolutely right. But, people adopt kittens because they want to gain trust within them. Friendship. And raising to grow up into a cat and love their owners. Your right about the part where kittens grow up fast. They're cute and cuddly, but if you spoil them when their kittens, they grow into adults, and walk all over you. You made a very good point. God Bless.
That's not true. You can bond with an adult cat and build the same trust. You don't know how a kitten will act when it is grown up - with an adult cat you know what its personality is going to be.
I'm not against adopting kittens, don't get that impression - but the adult cats when you go into a shelter shouldn't be passed over by default - they should also be considered if you are looking for a cat and given a chance not to live the rest of their lives miserable in a cage.
I work part time at Pet Smart and a Humane Soicety. I know how this stuff works. In the humane soicety i work at, adults go fast. Kittens are the one's who are left behind, then they loose trust and faith in humans, and everyone wonders why their kittens don't bond with them.
Great vidoe! Adult shelter cats RULE! I had always thought it was better to get a kitten so it could get used to you and the other pets. Percy the Persian changed my mind about that - I adopted him at 2 1/2. And since then I've adopted two other adults - and will ALWAYS pick adult cats over kittens! :)
Thank you! I appreciate your sharing it with others. All of my cats were rescued as adults and even though I do get taken in by kitten cuteness, my heart always goes out to the lost and abandoned adults.
