  • oh boy! Groovy! Neat-O!

  • maybe? No...oops! You know what I ment? Just matched grip, I say I say!

  • "Traditional matched grip?"

  • @gamer0unreleased he meant matched grip. i think he meant to say "the classic matched grip" and didnt think of traditional at the time

  • We did!

  • i literally do this exact twirl while i play i thought i invented it =[

  • Thanks!

  • looks really cool at fast speeds nice vid

  • looks really cool at fast speeds

  • thanks man its very helpful i learn this....

  • so true!

  • i have those drum sticks. "Aerosmith Rockin' Rollercoaster from Orlando Florida" if i remember right, that rollercoaster is in MGM studios. awesome ride. amazing shop after the ride.

  • thank you very much, this is much appreciated

    :)

  • @joeybbbbbz right back at you brother!

  • Thank you SO much!!

I'm 1st chair in the eighth grade percussion section, and I've always been the one to help the other guys.. Except with stick tricks XD I could do flam-a-diddles at 225, easily, but I couldn't twirl mah darn stick! =P A few of the guys have tried to help me out, but I couldn't get it XD Thanks a ton!!

  • Thanks for the thanks, I think there are better ways to do it, but this is the way I learned. I never found anybody that did it this way. It's nice to know I am teaching what came natural to me. I think 225 is awesome. Keep kicking azz!

  • yea it is a good video for newbs... I do the same flip except instead of the drop I use the up stroke after a strike as my momentum

  • I would like to see how you do that. Do you have a video of it?

  • I will try to get one up for you, it is the exact same thing I just use the my up stroke to gain momentum... but again I will try to get one for you

  • yo...i was like "what the F are you talking about?!"

so i fiddled with a drumstick for thirty seconds or so...and i totally GOT IT....finally!!! i wasn't dropping it back into my hand after the last spin, which is why it wasn't returning to the original position smoothly...a year or so, and finally got it now =) =)

    you rock!! thank you!!!

  • OK. I will try. It might take some time to do because I am on the road for a wile.

I will put it together when I get home.

    Thanks for asking.....Steve

  • can u please slow it down more u lost me it so freaken hard....

  • you lost me at 0:22

  • I just looked at 0:22 and I just can't see what you mean. Is it the way I drop the stick?

  • nooo! dont worry man.. i was just implying that im too crap at spinning drum sticks as soon as you started i was confused :L I obviously didnt do too well!

  • It that an Aerosmith Rollercoaster drumstick?

  • Yes it is! I thought it would look cool. I had a pair of them, but I broke one very fast. I use Pro Mark 747 Rock American Hickory, at my gigs. They last and feel good in my hand. Thanks,

    Steve the drummer

  • lol I have the same pair...

  • cool... I think you could try it using 4 fingers to spin 4x or something like that! it's hard to do at first and than it's easy.

  • I have mastered this move thanks to this fantastic video, and I have short fat fingers, so everyone with 5 fingers should be able to do it. I am now practicing my left hand.. Thanks for the hint Steve..

  • this is confusing me at 0:38 your middle finger jumps through the stick lol

  • I think I know what you mean. You just have to look at it over and over to see what is going on at that time spot 0:38

I wish I could help you out better.

  • so how could it be incorporated into say a groove or fill?

  • I use it at the end of the song for some reason, I do not know why. Just a habit.

I think it could be used in a song with space in it. Like a beat that has a rest so you can twirl in that space.
