Yes, he did this in 1995, I was in the Tchaikovsky for Young Muscians competition when he competed. I don't think that it matters. If it bothers you just listen and you will see how musically convincing his playing is. That junior field was SO strong that year, the first and second prize in the latest queen elisabeth, as well as antii siirala, 1st-prize winner of the Leeds competition 2003 did not even make the finals. I think that it was the highest level junior competition that I have seen.
