The guys ignores all composition guidelines, reason why the result looks boring, not the mention that a sun doesn't create such a light cone onto the main planet's surface
Alt/Option + click + drag to duplicate layers in the layer palette or alternatively, Cmd/Ctrl + J to duplicate selection (if nothing selected, just duplicates current layer) for those who didn't know.
By far the best tutorial I have ever seen! I have learned sooo much from this. You kept it simple, you explained everything and didn't assume that we already knew how to do something. And you didn't sound rushed! Very nice job!!!
When i select the ellipse tool and draw on to my layer it doesnt create a mask like what yours looks like making this whole tutorial unworkable. I just have half a white circle on my layer how do i get the mask like you have?
when i try to tamper with the levels after adding the clouds filter .. the levels show up in a layer of their own for some reason which is not giving the affect ur showing at all
But you should give the creators of the Planet Texture some credit - Linking to their page or adding their name in the description or at the end of the video.
I'm watching this tutorial for the 4th time, I love it! I got different picture every time, I'm just trying new ways and other colors, and this is the best tut I've ever seen.
wupsi, u made a little mistake there at 3:21 u say: set the size to 7 BUT while zooming out u put a 0 behind it so the size is 70 dunno if thats a "narrator" mistake or a tippo but i like 70 better :D
Jan 23rd, 2012: "Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in a protest against Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and ProtectIP Act (PIPA), a piece of legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives designed to target copyright infringers online through a series of harsh penalties. It is unconstitutional and violates every American's 1st Amendment: Freedom. Show Congress what they will ultimately achieve, censor your freedom of speech with a black bar."
But keep in mind that the background stars near the planet, where there is more light, realisticly should be less visible than the stars in the darker areas.
@IceflowStudios: THIS is GREAT! Thank you soo much!!! Would be cool to see another try with more deep space like gtgraphics.de. Can you show just another one like that, please?
I'm not finding the color selection when opening the layer style box while setting the linear dodge option as described at 2:29 (I'm working on photoshop CS5)
@trancesensation23 same as this tutorial, you won't need the black background and work above your photograph layer. You then either want to lower the opacity of these layers, in some cases, or change their blending mode. This will help everything sink in to your original photograph.
Once your 'scene' has been created above your photograph you want to erase the parts that cover the foreground and you're done
Hey, Amazing Tute, could you tell me what screen capture software you use? I like the zoom feature but my software doesn't seem to have that, Would really appreciate you telling!! Keep up the great work! Thanks.
my selection with the sphere doesnt have the ants running on the grey area like yours.. just the bottom of the picture then it messes up the sphereize part
Great tutorial! Before this I was using noise and levels adjustments to create starfields. Its a lot faster, but I can control the effect better with a custom brush. Thanks for the tip :D
