what are these 25-30K in benefits they are recieving....i'm a teacher and I make 32,500 I have shitty health insurance, no dental and I have to buy all of my own supplies for my class room
@Terra812 Everyone over looks this fact. We only work 185 days a year. During the summer, I can either get part-time work to augment my income, or I can go on vacation for two months. Teaching is a fantastic job with tons of benefits (in California). America has among the highest paid teachers in the world and our spending per pupil in the highest in the world.
Public sector Unions are destroying our schools, I use to be a member of one. =)
@Terra812 You clearly know nothing about education....I dont know one single teacher that choose to become a teacher because they have summers off. Yes, I got 2 months off each summer. This week I worked from 7am to 5pm, 7 am to 9pm, 7am to 7pm, and will be working 7am to 9pm both Thursday and Friday. This does not include the 2-3 hours I will spend on Saturday grading papers and the 4-5 hours I will spend on Sunday preparing to teach the 185 kids I have in 5 class periods throughout the day.
@Terra812 ya I get 2 months off a year...you get to work a 9-5 job and get to be done when you go home....sounds like a fair trade off....the teacher salaries listed on this video are extremes. For every one salary they listed of 50-60k there are 100's that are making 30K.
@Andy180084 What kind of fancy ass house or luxurious lifestyle are they living? That's 3 times the average of what most people my age in the private sector make. I would be singing hallelujah if I had those kind of benefits with such a high pay. Your professors are just greedy. They need to sympathize with the lower-paid, hard working Americans whose kids they're teaching.
@DarthVengent lol, if you went to college for 5-6 years to make $20-30k in the private sector that's your fault. On the other hand, I EXPECT to make $60 grand at LEAST with a bachelors in any field.
Go be a teacher then if you think they're overpaid. Stop watching fox-fucking-news and all the rest of the propagandizing media and spit on someone else instead.
@Andy180084 First of all, you assumed I went to college to make that much money. No, that's the amount you would make for working a normal non-college job. If I went to college for a job that only makes that much, yes I'd be stupid. But teachers go to college to make 3 times that. And guess what? They make the same amount you do on a bachelors degree. If they care so much about making the job worth their time, they can go do your job. They don't HAVE to teach, stop justifying their greed.
@DarthVengent lol, you don't understand... I would never go to college for 5-6 years to teach, what a crappy job. Maybe if I was working at a university and making about $65-$100k a year along with benefits, sure.
@Andy180084 If I could afford college, I'd become a teacher. The problems: ease of entry into field, esp. tenure-track position. Also, grandfather-clause provisions-SENIORITY-BASED. Consider your sense of entitlement--you're ENTITLED to your salary b/c you're a teacher w/ a degree? ENTITLED to own a car, have kids, & own a house? I got a vasectomy & have NEVER had kids, NEVER owned a motor vehicle. I'm 30 & thankful what I do have. Remember: your pay & JOB SECURITY have NOTHING to do w/ MERIT.
GO FUCK YOURSELF THEY DESERVE A BETTER WAGE THEN THE FUCKING GREDEDY ASS CEO'S THAT ARE BUILDING UP COMMUNINST CHINA WITH THEIR OUT SOURCING YOU PUKE YOU FUCKING ANTI AMERICAN CUNT
@hammerhead300 TIME FOR SOMEBODY TO SHOUT OUT ABOUT THE ANTI AMERICAN CORPORATIONS THAT EXPECT US TO BE THEIR SLAVES AND KEEP THEM SAFE WITH ALL THEIR COPY RIGHT AND PATENT REGULATIONS - YEH SOME FREEASS MARKET. SEND YOUR KIDS TO DIE FOR CORPORATIONS AND CEOS TO MAKE TRILLIONS AND PAY THE REAL WORKERS NOTHING
SHOUT - MAYBE SOME PIECE OF SHIT WILL ACTUALLY USE THEIR TINY BRAINS TO FIGURE OUT THEY ARE BEING SCREWED
BTW dumby, if a factory work only work 180 day a year, at the hrs these greedy pigs work, theres no way hed make 15,000. We pay your health care and pensions, which is ridiculous, be thankful you asshole. I know many teachers who are btw.
Hahaha, yea, those greedy teachers are soaking the country dry. If they only took a pay cut and dropped their benifits to cover the money lost from Walker's tax cuts to corporations which created their debt problem, everything would be great!
School teachers are truly bankrupting the country. They should work for free, and then volunteer to chaperone the weekly dances and football games. Everyone knows the teachers raise the kids and are responsible for teaching the dirty little freaks the difference between right and wrong. The lack of gratitude should be reward enough for the whining teachers. They can live off love, or something ...
This is all such bullshit, conservatives bitch and complain about teachers, what about the crazy out of bounds salaries paid to executives especially to many companies that were responsible for the recession. HYPPOCRITES all of you bastards. Why don't you express outrage where it is deserved? Teachers didn't cause the recession morons.
@jimitl5 True, and lets not forget that education should be our number one priority. Good teachers deserve to make as much or more than the executives and banksters who rip us off and get hugh bonuses for doing that. I've come to the conclusion that our government doesn't want educated people in this country. Too many people who think are a threat to them.
@mcarr2rr12 That's such a lame argument. I, like most people working in private business don't make half as much as these people. Private business includes the local dinner owner who pays out of pocket for his family's insurance and works 60hr/weeks for 40k. Why the hell should his taxes go up so they don't have to pay a little more into their own pensions? I don't get a pension, shouldn't have to pay theirs. These people are greedy pigs!
Yea! Those teahers live high on the hog what with those cushy teachers lounges...
.
Instead of ruining what other people have, which the private sector USED TO HAVE until private sector took them away, start your own fucking union and get what you deserve. If walker didn't give the corporates a tax cut, the teachers wouldn't be forced to take a pay cut.
.
cons slash the school budget, then use the resulting drop in performance of students to slash it further.
@nurb101 Haha, yeah let’s all just unionize… sure. So what union does the local diner owner join? And if he did, who would pay the cost…? THE CUSTOMER RIGHT? WHO’S GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES CUSTOMERS? THE TAX PAYER! If a greedy union gets out of control in the private sector, The business fails, so what happens same case government? WE ALL PAY FOR IT AND THE ECONOMY FAILS. Nice argument retard, please never vote. And why go to school anyway, become a government janitor and make 100k/yr...
@nurb101 And the teachers didn’t take a pay cut, the reason their greedy asses were up in arms was because of paying an insane 1.5% increase into their own pensions… holy crap right? So hard working 180 days a year and retiring at 50, the rest of us save into a 401k, fuck you greedy aholes, why should I pay for your retirement while saving for mine? Not to mention they make more than all of us honest, non-government, more common, over-taxed, real American worker.
The teachers already agreed to a paycut before the budget was presented, then when the budget was introduced they were asked to take another. It doesn't change the fact none of this would have happened if he didn't give corpiorate tax cuts on top of the federal tax cuts. Over taxed? Taxes are the lowest they've been ever!
.
Taxes were 92% under eisenhower and GE didn't pay taxes this year, got 3.2 BILLION from gov't on top of 14 billion in profit. 20% of the US owns 93% of the wealth
@nurb101 You union bitches always chant "corporations!" Fuck you, Im from IL where we raised tax on workers 66%, that same year the greedy union contracted a 16%, we all made even less and they got more. Factory/dock/truckers REAL workers are happy to 35K, and we have to save for retirement while paying your pensions! Get fucked, this is about greed nothing more, fuck tards always calling out corporate greed, they employ us, then you raise taxes and WE get laid off!
@ars62287 Yeah and when you CUT peoples salaries they spend LESS money. They buy groceries instead of eating at THE LOCAL DINNER you fucking dumbshit. The local dinner is for people with disposable income not people who are trying to survive. I myself work for the private sector and cannot afford to go out eat at all. Twice a year at best.
General Electric earned 14.2 billion in profits, yet paid no U.S. taxes. GE netted a tax benefit of 3.2 billion. Transocean Ltd. (of the BP oil platform explosion that killed 11 workers) gave its top execs bonuses for achieving the "best year in safety performance." The total BONUS for Transocean CEO Steve Newman last year was $374,062. In the laundry list of greed and corruption, businesses have more explaining to do than teachers.
Good job. You forgot to mention the abuse of sick days. I believe WI teachers at one point had up to 90 sick days per year (9 months). Do you have info on how many sick days they have per 9 months now?
@Nokomisclub 90 days a year? Check you facts moron. All you are doing is spreading the same bullshit you hear. You probably don't know how to think or even know how to check the facts. Oh yeah, conservatives know nothing about facts, just lies. Are you sucking the Koch brothers dicks too? Just more lies spread by conservatives in support of their coprorate buddies who want to control government and take away worker rights all for their profit margine.
Chicago has a 56% graduation rate. Good job teachers!

(Which is the real reason most choose teaching)
