His intensity reminded me of a VHS video of him I saw. He did a very nice jodan mawashigeri and they had a slow motion close up of his target's head. You could see the man's ear lobe wiggling as a result of the kick.
Is it just me, or is this the guy that played The Shredder in the live action Ninja Turtles movie? JK but Master Tanaka is awesome and with this music and the costume he could easily pull the part off. His form in this video is VERY good the control and focus in his technique is one of the best I have seen.
In a real fight to defending his life, who has the winner's advantage: A master of karate with full knowledge of kata's bunkai and makiwara experienced or a Wing Chun master trained in wooden dummy (mudjong). In your opinion who's the one that would survive?
@Aindelic7839 If you use the romanjii it is Enpi, because it is written with 2 kanjis: En-Pi. But you can also use the occidental grammar and its Empi. Either way is correct.
I get so tired of people getting on here and saying "my style is better than your style." Okinawan is better than Japanese...Japanese is better than Okinawan...MMA is better...Muay Thai is better. Get over it, and grow up. Train in whatever style you want to train in.
THIS IS NOT KARATE! A warning from a JKA life member: I spent a long time training and teaching this activity. Because of many contradictions I saw and heard I began a study of karate from it’s beginning; what it really is, why it was developed, how it was taught, what it’s general syllabus was. The JKA is a shell, they have eliminated much of original karate and have invalidated it as a martial art. Read comments my site, the truth is obvious through study if you are willing to see it.
@IEKUKATAKA okinawan karate-do---MAY IT LIVE FOREVER. I feel the same sometimes...Japanese karate doesn't seem to have the beautiful killing techniques seen within the bunkai of Okinawan arts. LOVE your site---I think I'm a member of yours as well. (we may have even exchanged e-mails)....Take Care OUS!
@tamichalak The JKA missed a good chance of being a good karate style for being an empty kicking and punching sport. Funakoshi died very disappointed, he should have been.
@SKIFTIGER Yeah I do see it! haha And I call myself shotokan! But I dont think it was Tanaka's fault. If you watch that sequence in back stance again I think it replays it at a different camera angle so it looks like he does it more than once. Which is wierd but I thinks its a camera techincallity, or I could be wrong. Watch it again and youll see what I mean.
there is no such thing as better fighting styles only a better fighter,s

No - its the same move from the different camera - poor editing, but Tanaka is a fighter, not a kata man!
