It has nothing to do with whether or not safe sex was being taught in schools. What most of the people making an issue of this are concerned with is that Palin is about teaching abstinence only. When I was in high school all the pregnant girls were the ones that weren't allowed to take sex ed. None of the girls that did take sex ed got pregnant. I don't mean all the girls that didn't take sex ed got pregnant.

My point with 15 year old sex education is that you previously blamed her daughter's pregnancy in part on Gov. Palin's position on teaching abstinence in health education. When her daughter was 15, Palin wasn't governor. So how can you attribute that to Palin. Do you have some inside scoop that Palin withdrew her daughter from sex ed? If so, please share your source. If not, you've actually proven that current "safe" sex education fails to prevent teenage pregnanacy, at least by this account.

To summarize, if you were blaming Gov. Palin's position on teaching abstinence for her daughter's pregnancy, then it's an empty argument because her daughter had probably already received a good dose of liberal sex education before her mother had any real influence over state educational programming. If you weren't alluding to that, then I don't know why you brought it up. You stated, "Had Palin not been against teaching safe sex, people wouldn't be making an issue out if this."

News flash, most Americans outside of a few urban centers, actually do care about God, Gun rights, Tax Cuts, and State Sovereignty. These are the wedge issues which divides this country. For clarity, personal attacks would be issues over whether a candidate is muslim or whether a woman returned to work too quickly after giving birth. Issues on the other hand, is whether a candidate supports increasing or lowering taxes. This is why a debate on issues between the candidates is critical now.

For someone completely against abortion, she keeps talking about her decision to not have an abortion after she found out her baby had down syndrome and her daughter's decision not to have an abortion after getting knocked up without being married. So Palin's family gets to make a decision while she wants to take that decision away from other women.

Reducing Palin's daughter's pregnancy to whether or not safe sex was being taught in the schools is misleading and an over simplification. She's been governor for 2 years and when I was in High School, I had all of my sex ed classes by the time I was 15 (10th Grade).

It's also presumptive to assume that the GOP would shred Obama over an unplanned pregnancy. There's much more substantive issues that the GOP can raise against Obama like his lack of experience and his hollow promises.

Had McCain picked Tim Pawlenty I would have considered possibly voting republican, but he picked someone with no exprience that McCain supporters keep saying she's qualified because of her story how she is a mom with 5 kids and her newborn was diagnosed with down syndrome and she didn't have an abortion.

There are two sides to the Palin story and the left are trying to obfuscate this. The point of the GB piece (prior to her being selected and not a political piece) is that she has character. It's an uncommon story of a governor able to sustain a high approval rating while raising a big family. This is a character issue, not a statement of qualifications. In the area of experience and accomplishments, she has a resume including governor and she has successfully taken on incumbent interests.
