It's not Rum. It's Turkish Black Sea music. The music from the Turkish Black Sea is not Rum, Turkish, Persian, Laz, Georgian or whatever. It's a mix between al those cultures.
@TurkicPrincess1 Yes, it is. This is Greek music from the Greeks who live on the black sea. Just google Byzantine Lyra and you will see what i am talking about.
This dance is originally a Persian dance. The Greeks took it over from the Persians who lived their untill the Greek occupation. Those Persian got assimilated into Greeks . Then the Turks came and added their own culture to the ecxisting Black Sea culture which was already a blend of Persian, Greek, Laz, Georgian, Hemshin etc.. It's bullshit to say this dance it's Greek, since it's not. This culture and dance is a part of many cultures, peoples and languages.
@TurkicPrincess1 The word "Horon" is Greek. That is indisputable and it can be easily proven just by looking at Byzantine and classical Greek documents. Now, while it may be true that many cultures share this dance and music, one thing is for sure, it was not invented by Turks.
It's obvious you didn't read my comments. The word Horon is indeed Greek. But this dance is not. Horon means circle dance, does this even look like a circle dance to you? This dance has nothing do to with the original Horon that you see in the Balkans. This dance was Persian, Laz, Hemshin, Georgian etc. Then the Greeks took it over from those Black Sea people, and at last the Turks took it over. That's just how it is.
@TurkicPrincess1 ammını siktiğimin alevisi senin o ananla cem evinde mum söndü oyunu oynayacam sayfandan adımı sil yoksa senin hesabı 1 ay içinde suspend yaparım şakam yok fena kayaya çarptın benim çevrem çok geniş
@TurkicPrincess1 Horon does not mean ''circle dance''. This dance is ancient Greek dance. Called Pyrixios (pyra=fire) the fire dance. Is a war dance that performed with weapons (shield and sword).Kourites in Crete, Athenians in Panathinians, Spartans in Dioskouria, almost all Greek ancient tribes perform this dance. Its purpose was to give inner strength to the warriors and frighten the enemy. We know all that from Aristofanes,Plato,Homer,Ksenofontas and many other classical writers.
@TurkicPrincess1 Also Achileas perform that dance, over the dead body of Patroclos. Homer write it in Iliad 4000 years ago.Greeks of Pontos and Cretans was the only that saved that dance till today through their tradition (not exactly the same, but in similar versions). As you see history truth can't be forged my friend. Peace.
Even today you'll find many peoples in the Black Sea in Turkey who share this dance & culture but all have different origin - dispite the fact that they are all considered to be Turks. For example, in Trabzon & Giresun you'll find the Turkish and Greek spreaking peoples. In Artvin, Hoppa, Rize etc, you'll find the Laz, Hemshin, Ahiska Turks and Georgians.
