  • it is chinese characters!!!

  • Wait, aren't these chinese characters?

  • aargh that backgroundmusic. i can't get it out of my head x.x

  • the numbers pronunciation is very similar to Tibetan!!! i didn't know that!!

  • @music4yiney yes you do know that... for a long time now.... lol

  • the japanese number pronouncing are very easy

  • The background music is very repetitive and distracting. >_< I am thinking of finding diffrent user to study Japanese from.

  • lmao iono why but this was fun

  • wot,

no kick ass song like their alphabet song?

ahh well, Its easyier to count and add in japanese than it is in english anyway.

  • their number system is so simliar to chinese O-O

  • 2+3= ni+san= nissan :D

  • @pufixas Toyota is better!

  • @faridperez Yeah no problem with a gas peddles getting stuck...

    GO HONDA!

  • lol jew chi

  • whats the dofferent between four's shi and yon and seven's sichi and nana? why are there two forms? are they used differently?

  • @Pixiemel2 yon is a bit more popular. shi is older. And shichi is older than nana

  • Shi means death. In modern japan its avoided saying Shi or Shichi (Shi-ji means death hour) because of superstition so they use Yon and Nana and I recommend you do the same. =)

  • kul att kära sej =D

  • Its not jyu or jeu...its juu

  • Its not english at all, hows that one?

  • 12 = juu-ni

  • HamsterClawz

    I think 12 is : jyu ni

    Isnt it?

  • 1 ichi 2 ni 3 san 4 shi/yon 5 go 6 rocku 7 nana 8 hachi 9 kyu 10 jiu 11jyu ichi 12 jyu san

  • wow. anata honto no baka!

  • O_O oh i see so its kinda like math xd you like add the numbers lool !!~!~ kewl =_= i learnt something today :3 arigatou :D!

  • @kyle556owns Just like english...

  • is this kanji?

  • yeah

  • zero is also the spell the same way but there is another way to say 0 and it is "rei" that one is kind of hard to pronounce. this is a nice vid 10/10 arigato

  • now i can do my homework

  • I always know how to speak japanese numbers, but never how to write them.

Whats with ten being "Jew" and a cross.

  • I noticed that too but it isn't jew it's jeu

  • No it is jyu

    ji+yu=jyu

  • Noone writes in romaji anyways.

  • Ichi Ni San Yon Go Roku Nana Hachi kya ju Thanks!
  • 9 is kyuu.

  • Thanks!

  • Ninje light;)

  • What they don't tell you is how the pronounciation of kanji sometimes changes when used as prefixes and suffixes. Example? "Shitenou", or Four Heavenly Kings, has "shi" instead "yon".

  • yon is female or male sustantive

  • 一1

    二2

    三3

    四4

    五5

    六6

    七7

    八8

    九9

    十10

  • sorry forgot 93 is kyujusan

  • nijukyu

  • ichi ni san shi go roku nana hachi kyu jyu jyu-ichi jyu-ni jyu-san jyu-go jyu-roku jyu-nana jyu-hachi jyu-kyu

  • First off jyu is spelled ju and you forgot jushi/juyon.

  • iti

    ni

    san

    yon

    go

    must remember

  • iti is spelled ichi.

  • does it matter if i use yon or shi for 4 and shichi or nana for 7

  • Shi and shichi are kind of like old style. Most use yon and nana.

  • for the most part they are interchangeable..but yeah most people say "yon" instead of shi..but for example, July is shichigatsu, not nanagatsu.

  • most people prefer yon because of shi it also sounds like shin cause shin means death so that considers as the unlucky number of japan and china

chinese counting is aaa eee oo shi

  • can someone tell me when to use shi/yon for 4 and nana/shishi for 7..?

i get confused when to use which.

  • i kno me 2

  • It has to do with dialect and preference. Some Japanese avoid Shi because it sounds like the Japanese word for death, but other than that, feel free to use whichever you can remember better.

  • Its pretty easy once you learn the pattern. If you can count from 1 - 10, know the word for 100 which is hyaku and the word for 1000 which is sen (I think), you can count to 9999 quite easily. Having said that, there are a few exceptions, for example I think 300 is "san byaku" not "san hyaku".

  • all the numbers are chinese! but different pronounciation! =)

  • should i say shi or yon for 4, and should i said shichi or nana for 7?

  • What is the most common way to say 4 and 7? Is 4 usually "shi" or "yon"? And is 7 most commonly "nana" or "schichi"?

  • u re noob that is no true that s different culture they think the same for our letters it s somethink u can t compare

  • All of them looked like Chinese writing in chinese, no offense, and I mean all of them..

Well the language is japanese anyway so it doesn't matter

  • kanji = chinese characters

    that's why they look chinese

  • When it got to 6, it sounded like he said "Goku".

  • no, 6 is Roku ^^

  • this isn't in hirigana?

    or is it?

  • Yeah, it's hirigana =)

  • That's the kanji, not the hiragana.

  • Kanji is correct. There are no Hiragana here. Kanji are definately harder for us English speakers to leaarn, however, numbers are something you see so often, you should be able to memorize by them fairly easily.

  • am i right to say that ni hiraku ni jyu ichi is 221 correct?

  • ichi-go meens nothing if you want 16 its jyi-roku

  • But what does Ichi-Go means?

  • ichigo=strawberry

    jyuu-go=15 (10 [jyuu]+5[go]), not ichi-go (1+5). I hope that answers your question, even though I'm a week late. :P

    --Mizuki, 13

  • Ohh! i get it now. Thanks alot :D

  • Oh, you're welcome? ;)

  • its jyu not "jyuu"

    -.-'

  • Wow...a "u!" Big diff. It's not like I'm gonna go to Japan and write Romaji. I'd fucking learn the right way in their language Mr. Perfect. :P

  • lol

  • Yi Er San Si Liao Ti Ba Jiao Chi or something like that is chinese not that you guys care but It is similar... i think

  • I can count to twenty. Ichi,ni,san,shi,go,roku,nana,hache,kyu,jyu,jyu ichi,jyu ni,jyu san,jyu yon,jyu go,jyu roku,jyu nana,jyu hache,jyu kyu, ni jyu. I think that's twenty. HOPE THIS HELPED.

  • 100 = Hyaku.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong: Japanese word for 999(nine hundred ninety-nine) is kyu hyaku kyu ju kyu.

  • im not a japanese pro, but i think its right...

  • u guys are posers making fun of the japanese name for laughs i hate you all

  • so how would you say 100?

  • hyaku

  • Awesome!!! Great video! I keep getting stared at funny for copying what you say >.<; how embarrassing!! But at least I'm learning! Thanks!

  • 4 is shi or yon i see some say shi and others yon ive seen animes in japanese tahat they say shi and tutorial saying that is yon

  • shi is used to say 4, but you say yon when you use the number four after ten. So for instance; 14 would be jyu yon, 24 would be ni jyu yon etc. same with 7 (shichi before 10, nana after.)

  • arigato

  • arigatou gozaimasu!!! I can now see why its dficult to pronounce the Japanese 'R' , its like a cross between R and L , im gonna need to practice it ^^

  • thanks!now i can jearn more japanese. can you put how to say numbers like 30 and 40???

  • It's actually really easy. =3 All you do is say the numbers how they look: (Ex: 22 is two-ten-two "ni-juu-ni". 30 would be "san-juu", three-ten. 97 would be "kyuu-juu-nana", nine-ten-seven. ^_~

  • Ichi, Ni, San, Yon, Go, Roku, Nana, Hatchi, Q, Jew, Jew Ichi, Jew Ni. :) Thats what it sounds like anyway :P

  • its actually

ichi, ni, san, yon, go, roku, nana, hachi, kyuu, juu, juuichi, juuni

  • Ah well, i got the First 7 right lol

Cheers for the spelling update :P

  • You lost me at 3

  • nana in filipino means puss
