Propably the most unscientific weapon in an RTS game ever. No one has ever been killed by a lighting strike while inside a car... Hell, even a chicken wire cage would protect ya.

Both RA1 and RA2 has Tesla Tanks. You have to be playing as Russia in the Skirmish mode in RA2 to be able to build them. I think you can build them in classic RA1, but maybe you need the expansion Retaliation in order to build them.

@godview1 The expansion is called The Aftermath, not Retaliation. Retaliation is the Playstation version of both Counterstrike and Aftermath expansions combined. And THIS Tesla Tank is the Aftermath one.

I only played RA2 but never seen any tesla tanks at all, however i've seen concept art of them in which part of red alert are they anyway? US troops had prism tanks, so where do i get tesla tanks?

@darthbandon10 Not much sense for the MOBILE version of the Tesla Coil to hide behind static and instant-repairable ones... well, besides the lack of power usage. IMO, you're better off just mixing them with heavy tanks during an attack ;)

@nyerguds If your power plants take a hit they won't be affected, and if I'm not mistaken they fire faster. Yeah, you could keep them behind your heavy\mammoth tanks though when attacking.

@OldSkoolgamerz Tesla Tanks are AWESOME when you couple them to a bunch of Heavy Tanks, and sparingly, V2 Launchers. On a pack of 16 vehicles, I'd send 8 heavy tanks, 3 Tesla tanks, 2 V2s and 2 Mammoth tanks. That's very effective! While the heavies deal with the nearby enemies, Tesla tanks provide support fire, Mammoths obliterate survivors, and V2s take care of buidlings like nothing else!

The start animation, english.vqa, is in nchires.mix, inside redalert.mix, in the game folder.

The tank movement sound was taken from a RA1 video with two Soviet MCVs rolling in, seen from above. But there's always a chance WW used these same tank movement sounds in C&C1 videos too.

Not even the Playstation version really has it as ingame video... just as a few fragments in the intro video.

if you google for "Red Alert: The Lost Files" you'll find my mod that adds them to the PC version. Of course, you'll need the RA expansions for that.

This model only appears in The Aftermath though... in Counterstrike they just use the Mobile Radar Jammer's model with the rotating dish on top. and even in The Aftermath you don't get this video.

C&C Red Alert: Retaliation is a legendary game, can remember back then how cool it was to be able to play all those 105 different maps with all new toys like tesla tanks, the missile subs, chrono tanks and those strange MAG tanks or w/e they were called and others.. :) Ant missions and all.. And i read ur previous posts, and im grateful.. Does it mean if i download the mod i get these cinematics from the Retaliation to fit between the aftermath's and counter strike's missions or sumthin?

well, on PC there is no 'between', since they are all stand alone missions. But yes, it will give most missions their briefing videos from the Retaliation version.

(there are some errors because I didn't have a way to check which missions used which vids, back when I made that)

Besides the videos (which I already ported to PC anyway), there's nothing that would make me prefer the PS version over the normal PC Counterstrike and Aftermath expansions.

I dunno, but I made a mod that adds all the Retaliation movies & briefings (including stuff like this video) to the PC version... it's called "Red Alert: The Lost Files". Should be easy to find with Google.

huh, I've only seen the DOS version do that... and even that can be fixed with VDMSound. The Windows version of RA1 on XP shouldn't have such problems.

I have no idea where you can still buy PSX RA1, but I know PC RA1 is included in the C&C: The First Decade pack.

I know, I bought it once. My dumbass computer has no DVD drive because my parents refuse to get a new one. Our current computer is so slow and full of useless crap that we can't even play the oldest of games (RA1, C&C1, Age of Empires, ect.)

Well if it's an XP computer, all those programs will simply need Win95 Compatibility mode to be applied to the installers to install, and to the main game exes to run. C&C95 also needs a DLL patch, and RA needs to be patched to version 1.08

Actually it doesn't need a dll patch. Just patch RA to version 1.08, then run the RA95.EXE file in Win95 compatibility mode.

There IS a dll patch, but that's thipx32.dll and it patches multiplayer and online play. Google understorm+net to find it.

This patch IS vital to get C&C95 running but RA95 runs without it IF you patch to 1.08

I already have the 1.08 patch, I can only play on DOS mode, because it said the entry point wasn't found in the DLL (Dynamic Link Library). And when I play DOS games, our sound card won't support it because it sucks as bad as our computer itself.

That problem is caused by incompatibility, not some DLL. Open the properties of RA95.exe, go to the Compatibility tab and set it to run in Win95 Compatibility mode. It should run that way.

As for DOS sound, that can be fixed with a program called VDMSound, as I said before. It is also a compatibility problem; it has nothing to do with your sound card.

does it happen with C&C95? the sound problem? Because it does the same with my C&C demo that I got off DOS games archive. I would have to screw around with the files a bit, because I'm pretty sure it is at 95 compatability. maybe our whole computer is incompatible with it altogether.

I TOLD YOU. To fix the DOS C&C games sound problem, use VDMSOUND. To fix the Win95 C&C games, get the Understorm patch and run the program in compatibility mode.

It helps to read the video description. The video material is taken from the intro of the Playstation version of the RA expansion missions, "Red Alert Retaliation". I re-made all sound myself, using audio from several other C&C1 and RA1 videos.
