Hell of a pilot ! Some of the best pilots in the war sat in P38's. A real hero ! Who needs to read a Superman comic when you are blessed to have a real breathing super man.
I wonder if a certain fat cheeked blue eyed neighbor kid ever got to meet Mr. J, I don't remember him. I'll have to ask your sibling if I did. WV is beautiful aint it?
I love this story your grandfather told, it reminds me of, some of the stories my uncle told me of his time in the pacific fighting the Japanese. He was a fighter Pilot, who flew F4U Corsairs, & P51 Mustangs, Captain Ed White, Army Airforce.
Hey ZeldaFS - I was here and commented 2 years ago. When i was last here; I shared this video with some members of my Gaming Community. They shared comments about it on my website/forums and i wanted to let you know that my members and i, Really appreciate your grandfather serving our country and thanks for sharing his story with us!
I am honored that this great man has actually set foot on my soil in the Arawe on the New Britain Island, Papua New Guinea.
I'm from the area where this unfortunate incident took place on the 18th of December 1943. The American Battle of Arawe, of which the assault began on December 15, 1943. For your info his plane wreckage was located by a New Tribe Missionary and his family up the Pulie River on April 21, 2007, the name of the river where he described crossing that leads into the open sea.
Superb! He tells a story very thoughtfully - you'd pay attention anyway, but it's so well-paced, it's riveting. My hat's off to this stubborn survivor! Thank you for your sacrifice - those mosquioto bites are no joke.
An excellent interview. Aren't you glad this interview was made? I hope more people will take the time to interview their family and others who gave us all quite a heritage to live up to. me3tv dot org.
That was an amazing story and I thank you, sir, for your service. My grandfather was a P38 pilot in WWII and I never had the chance to hear any of his stories, so thank you for sharing yours.

He is a true hero no matter what country you are from! You had an amazing grandfather.
I apologize for what my country did during World War Two. If we would not of started that none of that would of happened.
