Why label him as the best "White" WR? He might be the best WR ever behind Jerry Rice to ever play the game..The truth is you could find 6 WR in the NFL that are "White" and win with them on any team. There is a Myth that says he has to be "Black" because he is faster.. Which is the reason we label players as the best "White" or "Black" at certain positions.. Which is a damn shame..
Steve Largent one of the greatest Receivers of all time he played on some real bad Seahawk team but he always played great. I miss listening too the late Pete Gross on Kiro-Radio he was one of the best announcers I have ever heard
Instead of comparing Rice, Largent, and others, why don't we just appreciate the great qualities that make them great; dedication, discipline, concentration, toughness, tenacity. Both had great hands, both ran great routes, and both were classy competitors. I would also point out that Seahawk fans (I'm one) shouldn't be mad at Rice; he didn't break most of Largent's records. James Lofton broke the yardage record, Art Monk the streak of games with a catch and career catches.
Largent, without a doubt was best WR ever. He didn't have a Montana or a SF O-line to give his QB time. Largent was the only offensive weapon the Seahawks had for years, and so every DC had one thing to work on: Largent.
They double-teamed him and even tried to triple team at times because Zorn->Largent was basically the team for years. No other WR had to carry so much of an offense for so long. Gotta love that they were both cut from other teams! Snoop knows.
Zorn was fun to watch and scramble, but Largent was amazing with his ability to be under estimated and make the big plays week after week and year after year! Great guys.
My parents named me after this guy. He was the greatest wideout to ever set foot on the gridiron. Just imagine if he had Joe Montana and Steve Young throwing to him! Plus Rice played for like 19 seasons.
Steve is one of the most underrated receivers in football history in my opinion.
By the time he retired, he held every major receiving record. They have since been broken, yet all the same, he didn't have a joe montana or whatever. He had jim zorn and dave krieg, 2 alright quarterbacks on a new franchise during a time when the passing game isn't as "important" as it is today.
Largent probably could not crack a 4.6 clocking in the 40, but he ran routes to perfection, had soft hands, took the ball in front of him and used so many moves to consistently embarrass the league's elite corner backs. Ask Lester Hayes or Louis Wright if Largent could beat you deep. Do not forget about his ability and toughness. His ability to outwit his defenders was truly a work of art. His cunning consistently got him behind the defense. Confounded secondaries swore he did it with mirrors.
@plntntvzn Largent undoubtedly downplayed his speed because he's so intelligent, plus it's deception and acceleration that count. Top end speed is almost never needed. How many times have you seen a player run 40 yds. let alone 60 or 100......p. s. l'argent is French for money/silver.
His moves & uncanny ability to break away from defenders without blazing speed was testimony to intelligence, hands, concentration and excellent burst out of cuts. To measure him by stopwatch was moot. He had "run-by-'em"speed, would get on defender quick off the line & could turn people. Corners who bit on 1st move got burned for TD. Corners who bit on 2nd move would get burned for 1st down. Corners who did not bite at all would have to push him out of bounds at the tail end of a 15-yard out.
Most receivers sell a fake then get into their route. Technician Largent sold 2 or 3 superb head and shoulder fakes before getting down to the business of catching the football. He was too nifty at the line at the line for press coverage as well. Slants, hooks, curls, ins and outs - Largent ran all routes meticulously and was productive from sideline to sideline. He had remarkable concentration and excelled at catching the low ball. He was also a great competitor and clutch performer.
He was awesome and a class act. Given that though and in my humble opinion Lance Alworth was the greatest receiver ever as he had not one weakness and unmatched speed (beside Bob Hayes) and played in a brutal era in the 60's of DB's having the ability to practically bump and man handle down the field.
No, not the best of all time. He was, however, a legend in his own time and a no-brainer for the Hall of Fame. It was a real privilege to watch him play.
"A tribute to one of the greatest players in Seattle Seahawks history."
Not altogether accurate, try THE best player in Seahawks history as well as the second greatest wide receiver the NFL has ever seen... I like that, it sounds much better that way.
Did you really just call Dave Krieg the worst QB in Seahawks history? Him and Hasselbeck are tied for best Seahawks Qb of all time! I suppose you forgot about guys like Rick Mirer and Dan McGwire right?
Steve Largent. I cant' even say or write the name without feeling proud. I will now and forever love the Seahawks, win or loose. I'm not sure I will love them more than when Largent was a Seahawk,
What the fuck do you know you fucking clownshoe? Only a closet case or a pedo would say something so fucking ludicrous, cupcake. Go pose in front of the mirror with your panty hose on and your junk tucked you fluff queen.
not knocking zorn but lets just say if largent had montana no one would have broken his records..wow do i miss watchin those two though..and gotta agree that largent was a class act all around..lets hope we can get rid of the ball cancer that is on this team a.ka mora and knapp and get holm back and hopefully shannahan as hc..wishfull thinkin..lol
Dude, with Himgren and Shannahan, I'm auto matically a Hawks fan again. I loved Largent, Krieg, Warner, Easily and those guys. I'll be a Giants' fan all my life, but the Hawks can be my number 2 with those heavy hitters running things!
bro im a closet giants fan too and i loved every minute of it when they beat the patsys..im born an raised in boston so it was the best bustin balls to these joke fans up here..lol and yeah bro that is my dream if those 2 ran things but idk i think holm might go to clevland..he is insane if he does though
To this day, I still think Steve Largent was the greatest wideout to ever play the game. Very humble person, never let his head get big, showed real class. Not to mention, his loyalty to the Seahawks throughout his entire career in the NFL. If Steve Largent ever ran for President, hed get my vote, no questions asked.
Rice, Alworth, Largent, Monk, and the lazy Moss. I think ALworth would have been the best had he not been wasted those years in the AFL

Krieg was the worst quarterback the 'hawks ever had. He let the NFL in total fumbles at one point. What a waste for all those years.
