i was 12 years old when my dad took a bunch of cds to mexico where i was living, i didnt know any english but i could recognize good music and i used to listen to this album the whole time that was back in 1997
First time I heard this song I was drunk and winning money at the Frontier in Vegas. Just when I thought I couldn't be happier this song rang thru the speakers!!! Still Love it to this day!
Typical genius Buckingham performance, he plays a completely different lead line from the recording, and it's as good or better than the original--and what superior guitar playing.
EASILY the Most Overlooked Album of 1992 and in the Top 40 of All-time! A real crime! And yes jimfocus69 EASILY THE Most Underrated Guitarist-Composer-Singer ever!
For some strange I watched american idol last night. Why can't people like this go on it, instead we have people who all they do is sing other people's songs and don't play a single instrument and just look pretty.....
Imagine if one year some contestant went laong with all the others till the very last show, then they pull some secret thing like this on stage lol. See simon and randy sitting there jaws open lol.
never hear of this song !!! great song from lindsey...this man dont need fleetwood mac...he diong fine on his own...makin beautiful music..u gota love him..!!!

I loved the studio version of this song but it sounds like the actual guitar solo was played one full octive lower on this live version. Not just Lindsey but I wonder why so many awesome guitarists always seem like they have to strain as hard as they can to play thier studio stuff live and then butcher the wholly shit out of it? Surely I'm not the only one ever to notice this phenomenom? Why do they always have such a tough time playing thier own shit live. What the hell's up with that?
Lindsey uses his rick martin custom made model one for this live performance, and probably used a Les Paul in the studio. Buckingham prefers the rick martin in live performances because he can get a more adaptable sound in the different venues he plays in, he describes the martin as a cross between the les paul and a strat. I agree, the solos are different, but this is an amazing live vocal and guitar performance--notice lindsey laughs at the drummer when he misses a cue halfway through.
Exactly, it is a Rick Turner guitar. Turner's an extremely talented luthier who had earlier designed some of Alembic's basses -- the instruments favored by the likes of John Entwistle, Stanley Clarke, and John McVie in the 1970s.
I could have sworn somebody here had him playing Soul Drifter on Letterman from 1993 or later on in 92.
Out of the Cradle was by far his greatest solo album and I wish he would play more songs from it at his solo tours. So many good songs (Wrong, Soul Drifter, Countdown, This is the Time, You Do or You Don't, Surrender the Rain, Doing What I Can, Turn It On, Say We'll Meet Again, and All My Sorrow). Doing What I Can sounds like a "sequel" to Big Love. He goes crazy w/ the guitar in that song.
I couldn't agree more. I still listen to this album all the time, and this live performance of Countdown is truly awesome. I too wish he'd play more from this album. I bought Out of the Cradle back when it came out, and I think I appreciate it even more now.
My God, why don't people shout his name from the rooftops? I have loved this man since I was 14 and I don't understand why so few know who he is! One of the best guitarists out there. Wild and soulful, original and outstanding. It's all about Lindsey.
I watched this for Lettermans response....not included. Shit.

Out Of The Cradle is what Lindsey wanted Tusk to be all the way through (think That's All For Everyone and Walk A Thin Line).

This performance is living proof that Lindsey rocks- With or without Fleetwood Mac! (Of course, I prefer him WITH the Fleet, don't get me wrong!)
