  • Not a lot of passing places here, hopefully the new car is a little more exciting on the road courses

  • Nice track, didn't know USA was capable (road course). I kid..

  • Lap times were 1:14 for the Indy and 1:18 for Indy Lights. They were sMOkin!

  • im glad tony george stepped down. i'll never forget what he did with tracks like Michigan and Surfers Paradise. Bring Those Back Please Mr. Angstadt!!

  • @infantryofficer And thats why i think indycar should be shown on speed not versus.

  • @infantryofficer but then if they merged into the irl in the mid 90s, teams like hemelgarn, panther, and aj foyt woulda struggled like hell?! And it woulda pissed off many fans.

  • without all his frequent crashes and mechanical problems, scheckter could have easily been the best driver by now. scheckter is definetly the most unluckiest driver in the series.

  • @infantryofficer i remember that and i still feel sorry for briscoes crash in chicagoland.

  • Tomas Scheckter and Vitor Miera can win races for sure. Its a shame that roger penske or chip ganassi won't give them a chance. to be honest these guys deseve better.

  • @infantryofficer of course i know that in the late 90' s and early 00 with sam hornish and the greatest race in texas and all, but all im sayin is that teams like what i just said will probably fold with 5 or 10 years and move on to nascar. Drivers like tomas scheckter and/or miera should really be winning championships.

  • @infantryofficer I don't think you realize that tony george wanted a oval track american driver series. He basically kicked the CART teams out of the league.

  • @infantryofficer um I would like to go back to the days when season was under cart and the Indy 500 was under USAC, because back then the series had full grandstands at every race, a full grid of sexy looking and sounding race cars, and a grid of great drivers. The split your talking about wasn't that bad to be honest. The split im talking about ruined open wheel racing in north america

  • to be honest i think the CART Teams Merge into the IRL 10 years ago was a great idea. Foreign import and strong teams make a successful IRL, not sone suckish team like A.J. Foyt or Panther. we cant just have em ovals, we gotta be diverse too.

  • @infantryofficer what are you talking about? Tony George and under one banner shouldn't even be used in the same sentence like that. He completely screwed open wheel racing in north america forever.

  • It went pear shape when Bobby Rahal stepped in as interim CEO. When they decided to list it on the stock exchange killed them. Naive american companies only wanted products advertised in the US, they didnt care about international audiances. That was the key to CART's success. It was global. I am afraid we are going to have to agree to disagree. Enjoy your 'racing'. Also with the looks of the new range of cars for th 2012 season, the future looks very, very bleak indeed for IRL

  • @infantryofficer F1 pawns IRL. CART was a rival to F1, I was refering to a global fan base, a truly unique series, turbocharged engines 900-1000HP during the end of th 90's, one week you could be on a super speedway, then the next you were on a street course in the wet, then the following week they were buzzing around an airport??? The fans were treated like fans during race weekends, nothing was out of reach, the drivers the teams and the cars.

  • @infantryofficer you obviously never followed CART/Champ Car then

  • @infantryofficer no, I am a fan a impressive technology, extremely fast and competive cars, a true rival to F1 and most of all not an open wheel version of that shite series NASCAR.

  • One of the few great tracks on the calendar this year.

  • Looks like possible passing at Turn 6 and maybe even 1, if you're a bit crazy. I don't think it will be as dire as some people say, but probably not as exciting as Brazil... also, I like that Dixon slowed down to give himself enough time to narrate the whole thing >_>

  • How the hell did IRL win in the CART / IRL merge. Congratulations on killing the best form of open wheel racing. Slow ugly ass cars. Bring the turbo Reynards from the late 90's back.

  • @mytchook The IRL had the trump card: The Indy 500

  • @THEkingjaymz The Indy 500 is mediocre at best

  • @mytchook The dollar signs aren't.

  • @THEkingjaymz lately I would have to disagree. The whole series is a joke.

  • @mytchook You're trying to tell me the Indy 500 doesn't bring in alot of money? 300,000 people (if you include those in the infield) doesn't do something for the series' revenue?

  • @THEkingjaymz yes that is what I am saying. Once everything has been paid, they would be lucky to break even, it may be their biggest race but over a whole season that one race wouldn't count for much as far as revenue goes.

  • What an emotions:p

  • I really love this track so much, but man, blind corners cause challenging to overdrove the turns.

  • hhhmmmm...interesting to say the least. Braking will be key in this race. Too early and you'll get passed, too late you'll miss the turn.

  • Not convinced of the circuit yet... will have to see the race. Looks a little like the TI circuit in Japan, because it is not very wide and the Indycars look a little overgrown for the track!

  • @PontoonWorldChampion The width is 40ft all the way around. Plenty of room. :)

  • So many blind corners! Definitely challenging..

  • classic natural terrain road course...reminds me of European circuits............yes, VERY nice!

  • That turn leading to the backstretch will be key in qualifying. If they hit it right, could make someone look much faster than someone else.

  • This track is nice!
