  • The footage of him in the park reminds us of how graceful and athletic the great legend was, and in every other clip you are riveted to that beautful face and those incredible eyes. Effortless charisma.

  • Even these trivial throw away moments are funny.

  • i wish i could have met him. :(

  • Long gone but never forgotten there will never be another. Thanks Buster for all of your great movies. You made me laugh when I was down.

  • He was always on for the camera. I love that about him. What a ham! xoxoxo

  • I am American, living in France, and am so tickled my very young Parisian husband has become such a Keaton fan!

  • love him ♥

  • A TRUE ARTIST

  • That bit he does starting at 047, reminds me of the bit he did in right before the big chase to the money at the park in "Its a mad, mad, mad world". Loves his movies so much.

  • i love that little wiggle he does when he's stepping off the curb at 0:06 - the buster boogie ^_^ <33

  • 0:27

awesome cigarette trick, what a showman!

  • Lovely.

  • If you watch BK and his work he is the master of space on film. I know you can find his silents but look for him and Jimmy Durante in a feature film. Great movie with 2 of the greats.

  • @rentatrip1: You're on to something- I think "Sir Buster" or "Saint Buster" would have a nice ring to it! Lol

  • Buster Keaton Should be Knighted...Sainted ...and given - the Congressional Medal Of Honor Posthumously ! He has elevated the human race with his humor and added to the higher consciousness of mankind

  • @drmoonrat: I even have a hard time believing he weighed as much as 140 pounds. I'm not accusing BK of being scrawny, which he obviously was not - he was just very, very small-boned. (Just look at his wrists and ankles. This is particularly true when he was starting out in films in the late 1910's. For instance, in the "Butcher Boy" he looks as if he couldn't weigh more than 130 pounds soaking wet.

  • @MissGoldenDreams13 Yes, well he was very lean too. I mean he was a crazy athlete so I'm sure most of that weight too was just muscle mass. I myself am about 5'9 or 5'10 and I weigh at least 155, so to be only 130 and 4 to 5 inches shorter I can't imagin how small he must have been in real life.

  • drmoonrat: I could have sworn he was in the 5"4 to 5"5 range. I'm paraphrasing here, but in "Tempest in a Flat Hat" the author said something like, "He was 21 years old, 5"4 and 140 pounds..." Also, in "My Wonderful World of Slapstick" I recall Buster writing about his ill-fitting uniform during WWI, (to this effect) "Apparently nobody in the Army thought they would have anyone under 5"5..."

  • @MissGoldenDreams13 Yes, I think you are right!

  • I love it when he smiles. You never see him doing that on film or TV.

He was really something. A real genius, and a completely unique artist.

  • I love that cigarette trick! Too cute <3

  • He WAS short I (5'6")

  • @TheIMC8 Yeah, rather short. And all the villians in his movies were like 6'6"

  • @TheIMC8 WHAT DO WE CARE IF HE WAS SHORT OR NOT HE WAS HANSOME I BET BETTER THAN YOU

  • OHHH I would have loved to have met him in person.

  • I've seen footage of keaton getting off the caboose of a train while still in motion. As the train stopped, he reached out and grabbed the caboose. His timing was so good, it looked just like he stopped the train with his hand.

  • I'm not knocking the four people who didn't like this video. I just wonder what there was not to like about it. Trying to use logic, if someone didn't like Buster Keaton, they wouldn't come to view this, would they? Perhaps they would. Maybe they're from the Chaplin of comedy, surfing around youtube and the Internet to find that horrible Keaton so they can not like him some more. I'm only curious.

  • @alstrand I think perhaps some were a bit disappointed by the film, because there's not a lot of glitzy comedy. It is a Keaton home film, but this was actually taken in france while he was visiting. He pulls some funny gags, but I think some people expected more. Though I think the bit with the cigarette is wonderful.

  • @drmoonrat I also liked the keep off the grass part a lot. You're probably right about why they selected not to like it. Have you all seen Keaton in Candid Camera?

  • @alstrand Yes, his Candid Camera apperance was so incredible. Probably the funniest think I've ever seen on candid camera.

  • @alstrand Has anybody got that Candid Camera footage of Keaton? I've been looking for years on Youtube and no one ever seems to have uploaded it. I saw it years and years ago, it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

  • John Scott Trotter music from the animated "Peanuts"Tv specials are used as background music for these home movies of Mr.Buster Keaton.

  • @143AC May I respectfully point out that while Mr. Trotter wrote a few Peanuts themes, my research shows this one to be written by Vince Guaraldi.

But whomever it was, it's great seeing Buster Keaton's home movies.

  • @alstrand I think it was Vince Guaraldi, but I've also heard it was trotter. It's great music.

  • @alstrand - Wow, I just reread what I wrote...I was trying to be non-flaming and respectful. Instead I came off like a total snob. "I say....Mr. Trotter", etc. The song was definittely written by Guaraldi. That's better.

  • Perfect Pure Genius

  • just saw Sherlock Jr. for the first time.... man! this brotha was sooo creative! only seen that and Our Hospitality. Yet to see The General or The Navigator... im a new fan! ... where have a ibeen right... well, lets just put it this way; i hadn been born yet! hehe

  • just saw Sherlock Jr. for the first time.... man! this brotha was sooo creative! only seen that and Our Hospitality. Yet to see The General or The Navigator... im a new fan! hehe

  • Buster Keaton looks like a cartoon.

  • DON'T STEP ON THE GRASS!!! :)

  • Cool!

  • I love it.

  • despite his stoic expression, his eyes told his emotions. his eyes told so much and were so deep and meaningful

  • Some people are too much for their time

  • I LOVE BUSTER KEATON

  • BEAUTIFUL BUSTER KEATON

  • Can you imagine meeting him, like those people did, casually, on the street, being able to shake his hand and look into those soulful eyes, tell him how great he is, thank him for all of the memories? I get goosebumps thinking about it.

  • this guy was a genius.

  • it's in paris France probably when he was in Medrano circus

  • o.35 the famous look

  • He's trying so hard not to smile in the direction of the camera :)

  • Buster Keaton was a genius this was a nice treat to see some home movies.

  • The tune is "Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi (not sure whose performance this version is).

While more subdued, it's still Keaton and that's good enough for me...very nice.

  • Motice how when he starts to smile he tries to turn from the camera. They say he laughed alot and he laughed easily.

  • The music is John Scott Trotter's

..the man who scored "The Peanuts"animated

    tv specials and movies.

  • Keanton did smile off camera..

but when he was in front of the

public? He didn't smile and kept his serious

pose..he also hated crows and he shied

    away from them.

  • This was taken when Buster was honored

    in Paris in the 1960's.

    Great Music..unfunny Keaton.

  • He still tried to turn away from the camera when he started to smile- they say he laughed easily and alot.
