ya well a emt point when u are seriously hurt and we could drive through traffic and lights which should take about hour or longer but helicopter might 15 to 20 mins pending on where u go but ya they are in driven reach. the closeest trauma hosptial from me is 45 mins by ground not including traffic or lights. u tell me what better it sad they died but we know the risk
The news is so one sided. Doesn't say a thing about how many successful flights they've accomplished or how many lives have actually been saved because of medevac helicopters...
Either you're a dope or you work for a Medevac company.
Every time one of these things crashes, its liable to kill about four or five people.
This industry grew so explosively because these helicopter transporters can bill the patient's health insurance company a couple of thousand dollars for a flight.
With most of these flights, the injured person could be just as well be driven to the hospital.
Medevac has no business in a populated city where there are major hospitals within ambulance reach. I agree with highnrising about the profit motive. They belong in the rural/countryside, not in major cities.
@wgreen44 Im with you on this.Where I live getting to hospital is very commonly done via medivac helos and we have had a couple crashes over the years. But considering that they fly all day every day from place to place picking up people thier accident rate isnt realy much higher than regular ambulances and they save alot of lives that would otherwise been lost.
