@BlakesterMan It happens to some trumpet players sometimes. Muscle tears from the air flow i believe so it does it naturally after that. It takes a long time for it to get like that though (just what I've heard)

@MultiAC130 Yes it is in 4/4. It starts of in a slow moderate 4 then goes into cut time/double time/fast four. I listen to this clip all the time. I love watching and listening to these master of the art give their own personal interpretation of this piece. One can almost live the lives of these men through the feeling and sounds that they produce. Magnificent!!!!

@laduzi2 I'm guessing you mean Dizzy's "Bent" trumpet. It was an accident because someone sat on his trumpet. But he liked the change in the tone and the comfort of playing so he had his other trumpets made like that.

@calarooni He had a condition where the skin of his cheeks separated from his muscles. His cheeks gradually starting poofing more as he got older. It wasn't like he was actually pushing his cheeks out, it just happened when he played.

@L3giiit He hits a few his A's (talking concert pitch here) first, then he goes above that from a hi Bb up to an Eb (a Perfect 4th above the Bb) which is the 5th to the root of Eb dom 7th chord in that part of the tune. I was fortunate to play a concert with Arturo. I also met/warmed up for Dizzy in the Syracuse, NY JazzFest before he passed. Great trumpet players both.

i heard dizz in atlanta in 85.he followed this jazz group whose horns and guitars were biteing a hole in my ear drums.then his group came on stage and turned the mics 'i pee ,you pee up!' i got up to leave and right at that moment dizz sarted checking his trumpet in the mic and i couldnt believe my ears .LOOUUD AS HELL!.but no bite!WOW!i sat my ass right back down.people say SMOOTH JAZZ..Dizz. was the master of smooth sound .sound over all things tech!
