@UKnick80 Since there is no hole in the middle it has to be started. There are 2 types of cuts, climb and conventional. Climb (probably what you see as ccw) is a more aggressive cut and maybe not as controllable/accurate as a conventional cut. It really all depends on the rigidity of the machine. The idea is to not waste time machining. Aggressively cut out waste and finish cut at the final pass. Saves tools too.
Is that stepper or servo?

This is a 1KW AC servo system.. :) Nothing like 1.3 Hp for the axis motors LOL

when you started milling the middle, why did you start clockwise then switch to CCW?
