u drive in taiwan with all that crazy traffic, and you pick up on the way people park? Haha. Yea, it is illegal too, i think that only applies at night though, im not too sure. (sorry if someone has said this too, i am not looking through pages of comments to make sure i dont repeat)
I'm going to England this summer to see my Grandmother... she's getting old and I really wanna see her before she's gone. last time we went, we also went to Cannes, France for the 2nd time and it was BEAUTIFUL. I think I wanna go to Amsterdam this year, just for the heck of it, I quit smoking pot 3+ years ago but I think it might be interesting to go into a cafe and smoke out. here in LA, it's legal (pretty much), if you have a medical card. but it's really not the same though.
i love how you pronounce portsmouth but i quess you only saying it how you read it :) it said kinda like portsmooth? its so cool to see you riding round there, personal i think portsmouth is rubbish to look at compared to taiwan :) keep up the awesome vids i cant wait till i older enough to ride a bike :)
again im gunna have a bash at ur chicken strip comment, like i sed in a nother comment, shit weather shit roads and shit drivers mean you barely ever can get a chance to to even atempt to get your knee down, if you do manage it tho u will undoubtedly get nicked buy officer cuntychops for being and arsehole, so us bikers really dont bother being arseoles and go to places like europe or nz for bike rides!!
another issue is at night. parking on the road the wrong way makes cars harder to see in darker places as the rear reflectors will be facing the against the flow of traffic. as a young driver many years ago, i got a fine for parking like this in a side road. the officer must have been having a bad day as it was a dead end road and the road was unusually wide.
im not gonna lie i live in canada alberta and i see a few and i myself have done it a couple times but i do see your point in parking the wrong direction BUT i own a RHD car so i can clearly see the oncomming traffic when i pull out.
I completely agree with how dangerous this is. Especially at night. What people dont seem to realise is that headlights dont both point straight forward, one is forward, the other points slightly left, so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers. Someone parks on the wrong side and leaves their lights on, and it dazzles me, and in a busy, narrow street, that's quite dangerous.
I havent been to Canada since '97, but am I right in remembering it's illegal to park on the wrong side of the road?
Thing is mate, with parking in the UK it can be a right pain in the arse to find a decent parking spot. So instead of driving around and coming back on yourself to park in the right direction you just jump in regardless! Becasue chances are if you do leave the space, by the time you come back it will be taken! Driving in England is every man for himself my friend haha.
Imagine this....I'm riding along on my bike on a straight road. And there's one car coming towards me. But I'm not being overly defensive because there are no side streets or intersections. But none the less for no reason he pulls into my lane and comes head on at me....why? Because he wants to pull into a parking spot on the wrong side of the road.
Well there are lots of other countries that park like that...Vietnam, Cambodia, most countries in Africa....and pretty much any other 3rd world place you can think of. As opposed to all the other 1st world countries where they park the correct direction.
I *REALLY* wanted to take him. I love the vic, such a great tour (although expensive) I've done it probably 5 times and I'd do it again. Course misery guts didn't want to :(
Its alright you can see pretty far on a good day. It has a glass floor which was cool. You can see the castle ruins. But I believe its like 15-20 pounds to go up hhaa. so WORTH it, no lol
my bike has crazy chicken strips. Then again my ride to work is basically a drag strip its so damn straight. And then again I'm a little worried of wrecking my bike with only liability insurance.
nice vid, c'mon though sven has all those gadgets but no satnav, what's happening?, he's not batman after all :p looking forward to seeing you both in the next vid :)
Oh I do, and it's awsome. But since purchase it's not charged from the bike. It's been sent back four times....Still got to send it back again. they keep sending it back "fixed" but it isn't :(
But yours isn't waterproof :( Although the pricetag makes it more favourable...Depends what you're doing I suppose.
I use the tomtom rider one. But it's hella expensive, comes with the bluetooth headset (which doubles so you can phone too - works fine upto 60mph, can also double as bike to bike intercom) So you hear the instructions. It's also waterproof and charges from the bike.
If people had to park the same way we'd have people making unnecessary turns everywhere to go back and park their cars. I'd prefer the cagers just to park and get out my way rather than having people turning around everywhere to go back and park facing the right way.
It rains and its icy like 90% of the time, the opportunity to get the bike leant over properly comes like very rarely besides, the nice new looking bikes are bought by midlife crisis men...
bastards do that in New Zealand as well, especially 90 degree corners, usually on the exit to the corner where you dont see them. crashed my old scooter 'cos of that.

british roads are often too narrow to do a u-turn in, so parking on the opposite side of the road is sometimes the only way.

There is nothing wrong woth parking facing the opposite way to the traffic as long as it is not a particulary busy road. Why would there be?

still tho its going to take you time to pull out either way an pick up the speed to match the rest of the traffic if there is any,
also we been parking like that since day one, and no one has ever found any mayjor issues with parking faceing the other way the traffic,

and it really runes the videos in my oppinion
LuckySlevin7 3 years ago
Hm, chicken strips. I have none after a trackday. During normal riding there is some. Too many uncontrollable variables on the road.
The weather in the UK is crap, so Taiwanese riders probably get more miles in, and more miles in good conditions. Could explain it.

Strips of "unworn" rubber on a rear tyre, from people that don't lean the bike over very far.
svengalie 3 years ago 4
used to describe the width of unused tread on the edges of motorcycle tires.
mariotwentyone 3 years ago 2
The sides of your tyre left unworn because you have never leaned over very far on them. Hence chicken of fearty (Scotland) strips.
hornetobiker 3 years ago
And the dangers are?
svengalie 3 years ago 3
I guess it's the reflectors. The law says if the speed limit is 40+ then it's illegal.
svengalie 3 years ago 2
Yeah, 30mph zones = street lights every where.
40mph+ zones = no legal requirement for street lights, so you should park with traffic ideally leaving side/parking lights on.
cpunto 3 years ago
Well, when you pull out from your parking spot you are on the wrong side of the road heading head on into traffic. And if someone were on a bike....they might not expect that. A danger.....yes, no?
