I'm going to England this summer to see my Grandmother... she's getting old and I really wanna see her before she's gone. last time we went, we also went to Cannes, France for the 2nd time and it was BEAUTIFUL. another issue is at night. parking on the road the wrong way makes cars harder to see in darker places as the rear reflectors will be facing the against the flow of traffic. as a young driver many years ago, i got a fine for parking like this in a side road. the officer must have been having a bad day as it was a dead end road and the road was unusually wide.

im not gonna lie i live in canada alberta and i see a few and i myself have done it a couple times but i do see your point in parking the wrong direction BUT i own a RHD car so i can clearly see the oncomming traffic when i pull out.

I completely agree with how dangerous this is. Especially at night. What people dont seem to realise is that headlights dont both point straight forward, one is forward, the other points slightly left, so as not to dazzle oncoming drivers. Someone parks on the wrong side and leaves their lights on, and it dazzles me, and in a busy, narrow street, that's quite dangerous.

I havent been to Canada since '97, but am I right in remembering it's illegal to park on the wrong side of the road?

Thing is mate, with parking in the UK it can be a right pain in the arse to find a decent parking spot. So instead of driving around and coming back on yourself to park in the right direction you just jump in regardless! Becasue chances are if you do leave the space, by the time you come back it will be taken! Driving in England is every man for himself my friend haha.

Imagine this....I'm riding along on my bike on a straight road. And there's one car coming towards me. But I'm not being overly defensive because there are no side streets or intersections. But none the less for no reason he pulls into my lane and comes head on at me....why? Because he wants to pull into a parking spot on the wrong side of the road.

I have a Garmin. Some of the others have better software....but Garmin has superior hardware.

I use the tomtom rider one. But it's hella expensive, comes with the bluetooth headset (which doubles so you can phone too - works fine upto 60mph, can also double as bike to bike intercom) So you hear the instructions. It's also waterproof and charges from the bike.

The weather in the UK is crap, so Taiwanese riders probably get more miles in, and more miles in good conditions. Could explain it.

40mph+ zones = no legal requirement for street lights, so you should park with traffic ideally leaving side/parking lights on.
