Unlocking Surfing Pikachu in Pokémon Stadium

it took me several tries to achieve this and it didn't work! i used pikachu as one of me 3 choices everytime, it wasn't registered, what have i done wrong? i haven't finished the other R2 cups, would that be it?

To unlock this, Pikachu has to be in your party of 6 Pokemon for EVERY SINGLE CUP. You don't have to use him, just throw him into your team before you start going through it.

@RandomLeanne You can beat the R1 Mewtwo pretty easily with rentals using a somewhat cheap strategy. Lead with Electrode, and start with Thunder Wave. Then have Electrode Flash until Mewtwo kills it. Your other five Pokémon should all know one hit KO moves - Goldeen and Seaking with Horn Attack, Pinsir with Guillotine, Rhyhorn and Rhydon with Fissure, etc. Just use these moves until one hits (Thunder Wave means you should outspeed Mewtwo).

the mew is a trick using the normal game and gba in the 2º city (cerulean) and mewtwo is after of win to the elite 4 ; you must to travel to cerulean city, go to the cerulean cave, pass it and in the last you will find mewtwo of lvl 50 or 70 (i dont remember because i do it 2 years ago)

Yeah, it's hard to beat that Raichu with the traditional weakness of ground. I actually found rental Machoke and Exeggutor to be somewhat useful (I think, it's been a while).

I think he also has to be one of your team of 3 in each battle, though I don't think you actually have to use him. Also, I'm assuming you need the game and transfer pack in the controller.

I don't think so. The Pikachu has to be from Yellow to get surf. Otherwise, if you used Pikachu from Red/Blue, you'll get nothing.
