From beyond, she prayed to Jesus "Lord my children need me" and regained consciousness several minutes after dying on the operating table! He's real!

The basis for advice on how to deal with this issue is the fact that Mike was a pastor. So asking if hypothetically it was someone else has no basis on the already stated argument.
The reason such advice is given out is based on the fact that he had admitted his mistakes and has repented on it. If he confessed to any other sins, it would be okay because he has already stepped down as a pastor, and is seeking help for his condition.

You clearly haven't understand the words grace and mercy. God doesn't punish us for our sin; He puts the punishments on his Son, Jesus Christ. Ofcoure Mike screwed up big time, but when God forgives we have to forgive as well. And when we forgive, we shouldn't judge about what Mike should or shouldn't do and we surely shouldn't judge about what kind of repercussions Mike needs to have. That's not to us.

well first off humanity itself is unclean... and God uses us in His purpose. and although one might argue that those who have accepted Christ are now clean through His death and resurrection(which is true), God uses nonbelievers in His sovereign plan as well. take the ones who crucified Jesus, the ones who stoned and mocked Him, many of them probably went to Hell, but nonetheless God used them for the most awesome miracle in history, which is the chance for every human to be saved

Wow!!! if so, then we better start singing powerful Bon Jovi songs at church! To continue to sing the song in churches will only amplify gossip that will harm and destroy churches. The pastor is forgiven. The fact that he confessed and willing to suffer humilation is a sign that he is truly repenting from his sin. 1 john 1:9 covers him. We all need grace just as much as he does, so stop the judging and keep on rocking for the ROCK.

I have to say that I was also shocked with all this stuff, but in my heart I was comforted that the song was a remedy for Mike's soul. It is his prayer. Christianity is about God who is bringing the light into people's life, who is changing their sinful nature, who loves the worst of sinners. And in Mike's story I see the glory and mercy of God, because through the song he's got the breakthrough for his life. Mike didn't have to confess. Did you ask why he did this? That was the power of God.

it's so strange to me how, nobody cares bout the amazin things that Hillsong do 4 the community, the blessing that they poor into the surroundin community. they ignore the fact that nearly all the $ that goes into Hillsong goes bak 2 the community, & the rest 2 maintain a church with 000's upon 000's of members. However, when one, in a ministry of countless staff,publicly falls short, we condemn Hillsong. very sad situation.
... but then again... i must be forgettin that youre all perfect!

Where in my response have I condemned Hillsong? I have commented that poor young Steve here has made a juvenile attempt to justify the actions of a person and put it in the "oh well we all make mistakes category." I condemn the actions of MG and still believe that no one could pull off a scam of this magnitude without someone else knowing. How have all the "so called discerning leaders" let this lie be perpetuated for so long. Just giving the money from his fake ministry back is not enough.

yer ok i understand where youre comming from. i wasnt actually aimin that comment @ u, but evry1 on utube. however i'll comment on ur response. i know exactly wot u mean bout the whol "discerning" thing. in fact, that is something that has concerned me, but i dont believe its necessarily the leaders who must discern. it is the church as a whole! there4, how can i point the finger if i did not discern anythin myself, in fact i bought right into his story.

Yes it is the leaders who must do the discerning for they are the leaders who claim they are hearing from God and leading others into places they might not have necessarily gone by themselves. Maybe you cant point the finger but you are not getting 000's of others to follow you. I still think there is a cover up on some level and that someone else knew about it and threatened to out him if he didnt do it himself. They need to stop promoting the cult of personality.

My friend, have you checked this out for yourself? Some of the sharpest minds in the world have been convinced beyond doubt that Jesus is alive! I am a simple guy, but I know what I know! I don't try to brainwash people but I can only say I have seen many miracles. My mother died when I was 15 and my sister 13. From beyond, she prayed to Jesus "Lord my children need me" and regained consciousness several minutes after dying on the operating table! He's real!

The basis for advice on how to deal with this issue is the fact that Mike was a pastor. So asking if hypothetically it was someone else has no basis on the already stated argument.
The reason such advice is given out is based on the fact that he had admitted his mistakes and has repented on it. If he confessed to any other sins, it would be okay because he has already stepped down as a pastor, and is seeking help for his condition.
If one has taken the effort to improve, why condemn him?

So, this guy's a fraud! So what? The Bible shows us that Christianity itself is a fraud. Mark 16:17-18 clearly states, "And these signs shall follow them that believe..." According to the Bible, anyone who believes in the Gospels and Jesus will be able to, among other things, "drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." OK guys, who's going to put it to the test? Thought not!

I agree with what your saying though, Mike was a guy who was going through intense spiritual battles for 16 years and he couldnt cope. He is only Human. He made up the story of Cancer because he was ill and wanted something else to distract him from the battles in his life.

And I totally agree with retromusic7. How could his wife not know about this scandal? Cancer is a serious disease, and I think it would be obvious if someone was faking. Anyway, I do forgive him but I don't think we should let him off the hook, as previous people have mentioned. If someone else had done the same thing, I think they would be severely punished.

Lucifer was the Morning star and fell from that position because of pride. Mike on the other hand deliberately LIED about him having cancer from the beginning, so I don't think that Lucifers story has anything to do with Mike.

i agree hillsong...and planetshakers for that matter are both fantastic churches, and to think that a church is soo superficial like that i think is wrong.
this whole thing about mike is something we need to pray for him, and be supportive of him. im not saying to discount what has happened. but we as christians do need to show grace in such situations.
