I think this video can give a good answer to the people that are discussing about "what is this song made for?" We see this song made for reunification of East and West Germany (particularly two parts of Berlin). East Berlin is turning to a person and address to West Berlin. During the mid to late 80s I listened to mostly country. Then, in the 90s, it was mostly hard rock & blues. I never really gave myself a chance to listen to U2's work - until last year. I've listened to several types of music, and U2 is at the top of my list. Bono definitely had a voice. He's lost the deep, ranging tone he had in the 80s and early 90s, due to his smoking.

I think most people don't like them because of his political activism. They think he's a tool. Jeez, just listen.

The songs have an atmopshere to them. They're not just songs as cheesy as that may sound. It's hard to explain but for me U2's music creates another world. The music itself minus Bono's voice is like an epic score to a movie. Then Bono's voice just begs for you to sing along with him. I can't explain it. I like A LOT of bands but U2's music takes me places. Every other band just make music. U2 makes creates something else and either you get it or you don't I guess.

As a reply to an earlier comment I made on this vid, I want to say that there's one great difference between The Edge and other virtuoso guitarists like Satriani, Malmsteen or Vai. I surely appreciate their technique and fast or powerful playing, but Edge puts soooo much feeling into his playing.
