i met murray walker, and i was dissapointed. it was at the silverstone classic in 2008, i was 14 then, he was there promoting his new book, and i asked him nicely to sign my ticket, but he said, without a hint of apology, i'm just singing the books. it's a ticket, why not sign it, to hell with his promoters, just money grabbing wankers telling him what not to do, but still, murray should've just done a kind gesture

I genuinely think that the reason we all think f1 has been so boring for the last 10 years is beacause there has been no Murray Walker. He used to get so excited about the slightest little thing, the passion with which he delivered his commentry was second to none. The mistakes and the occasional not having a clue whats happening made it all the better. Hunt and laterly Brundle were incredibally knowlegeable and always put him right so there was the perfect balance of information and passion

Although he makes mistakes he is also a very perceptive and creative commentator. I remember a btcc race where a wing mirror fell off a car and bounced off the top of the one behind. Murray shouts 'header', you can't buy that kind of greatness as is evident from the current commentators!

Sorry but Muray made mistakes but he absoluetely more than made up for it with his enthusiasm.

Ive seen races where Murray NEVER knows exactly whats happening, with Hunt gently putting him right, and at no point is it boring liek the commentary on BBC these days. Thats not aimed at Brundle by the way, who is excellent and funny, his gridwalks of course are legendary. The current race commentator (Legard?) though seems clueless AND dull, and thats disgraceful really. Tough act to follow though

Murrary Walker is in a completely different league to james allen and Jonathan Legard, granted both know what there talking about, but neither of them are able to voice it to the fans with such, passion, flair and class as Murray did, and humour as well, can't forget that. I do miss having a decent commentary team for the f1, thank god for martin brundle and good races is all i can say, otherwise we would be bored.

Murray Walker is admittedly, like any exceptional broadcaster, a product of their time as much as their undeniable talent. But, to compare eras, there will likely never be one better than Murray's own. I'm glad we had him. The current crop is efficient and sterile but, like hearing Red Bull constantly, you get sick of it pretty quick. Red Bull SUCKS!!!!
