  • @sheilamaclean it's not that staff are "allowed" to watch tv...they just do. I work in a psychiatric hospital and trust me we NOT allowed to watch tv but some people do...I've seen it. It happens, EVERYWHERE.

  • Im sorry but I use to work in a nursing home that had a special care unit and we worked our asses off 24 /7.do you know how hard this kind of work is theres never enough staff to take care of the residents like they should be. this is the hardest job I ever had and everyone cared for the patients like they were theyre own family . maybe where this happened its typical but i live in wisconsin and the laws and the rules are very stricked theres no way anyone would get away with this.

  • I don't live in America but here in the UK my nan's doctor took her off some pills and around a day later she had diarrhoea about 2 weeks later my nan went back on the pills and she didn't have diarrhoea but the doctor told her to stop taking them. They also give her a bunch of pills and medicines but they don't explain what their for.

  • this happens in West Virginia jails they leave u to die. western regional jail west virginia! true! God Save that state.

  • my god... OMFG WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD TODAY what is wrong with people and life... nobody gives a shit... its just like it doesn't even matter even if people are sick, or mental, or to old! Why is it like this?! Really!? The guy can't just get up his lazy ass to save somebody's life... I geuss that he thought cards were more important well you know what!? I bet when he's old the same thing is going to happen to his... KARMA BITCH

  • mkay fuck it Im speaking my mind... that pissed me off people don't give a shit about anybody but themselves anymore, my grandma said she'd rather die than to go to a nursing home because of the shit that happens these days... Im pissed I'm shaking right now... That could have been prevented so easily that persons life could have been saved so fucking easily but that lazy dumb ass can't walk a couple feet to check on that poor guy...oh

  • hi Talljim01...i'm a nurse's aide in a mental health facility in Canada. I think this story that you've told is is very sad, but unfortunately it happens. I've seen a few nurse's and aides who just sit back during down time...watch tv or whatever. I myself, spend time with the patients, talking to them and getting to know them more. I'm no saint, i just enjoy it. For the most part though, the hospital i work at is pretty amazing..not many people like that.

Thanks for your video...an eye opener.

  • @psychsera And what other organisation allows its employees to watch TV while on the job. Care staff. The very ones who need to be alert and pro-active. Staff should not be allowed to watch TV on duty. Period. Nobody seems to be willing to step in and put some standards and basic rules into hospitals and homes. There needs to be a clean sweep and more responsibility put on those who run these places. People are not inanimate objects and should not be treated like so much flotsam.

  • that just pisses me off.

  • The sad fact is the same people who say that there is too much procedure in the way of human compassion are the exact same people who will sue a doctor and/or hospital for a year or more of funding for the alleged mishandling of their precious family members. The coin has two sides. Those procedures are in place so that the over sensitive families don't sue for someone putting on grandpa's diaper wrong.

  • I worked in a day program for developmentally disabled adults and children, i am not a CNA but even i know that when you administer meds you have to make sure that the patient swallows the pill in the first place....they should have never walked away anyway.

  • omg this is bs i cant believe that. i work as a CNA in a nursing home and i just cant imagen this..

  • in short words, I hope those phychiatrists lost their jobs and were replaced by doctors with comon sense.

  • mental hospitals should be shut down

  • if mental hospitals shut down, my dad would have commited suicide when i was 2 years old. not all mental hospitals are as bad as this. my dad's hospital is perfectly fine.

  • you have your dad in a mental hospital? I have my dad living in his own rv in my backyard.

  • I agree with you completely!

We don't need facilitate people who are potentially dangerous to other people, we need to just let them run wild in the streets cannibalizing with necrophilia and fecal fetish type behavior.

Nature will run its course..that's the way our lord jesus christ intended it to be.

  • you think these things don't happen in general hospitals??? LOL please.

  • i feel bad 4 any mental patient who dies or has died in the hospital or if there still in there i would wana take thm 2 another home!!coz who would wana b looked after by people who dont even work!!and leave a patient 2 die i hope they regret it that poor person!!

  • 22 hrs is a long card game

  • I am sick that this happened! I am an RN at a psych unit and we pride ourself on how our unit is run. We check on our patients at the least every 30 minutes and if suicidal or "cutters & swallowers" every 15 minutes. We do not sit around and watch tv. Thank you for being concerned for these patients.....they are often overlooked in the health care system.

  • Antipsychotics cause extream disphoria which leads to violence and suicide, take away lipido and cause impotence and make you fat. Ultimately they cause brain damage shrinking the brain. Please go to Yahoo and type in "Horrible Truth About Psychiatric Drugs" and also do the search "Documented Proof Psychiatric Drugs Shorten Lifespan". To searches to find information no psychiatrist will tell you.

  • By the way... the examples given were supposed to show idiots who do idiotic things, get f**ked up for doing it (which is an answer to prayer, I might add), then expect a lifesaving emergency system to foot the outrageous cost of treatment, because the patient didn't have the insight to think before he acted... or at least be insured before he accidentally... and stupidly... half-killed himself.

  • Hey man, I respect the passion, and I agree.

As far as health care goes, I have limited experience... most of it bad... one occasion, which could've been a horror movie.

That said, your talking about medically trained people who go to college to do a technical job... then end up dealing with thousands of idiots who put an eye out, or cut off a thumb, or ate a firework... aaaaaaand it just so happens they don't have insurance.

As a doctor, I'd be jaded too. It's no excuse, though.

  • thats pretty wanked.

  • On the patient side, I do feel like cattle - just herded thru. But of course, most of the time is spent discussing which insurance I have and how much my copay is. Then you wait and wait while they process thru other suckers, and when you get in, they rush you and act like your needs are not important. Sorry to everyone who, for some reason, thinks that high insurance premiums somehow make us the best country in the world, but our system sucks.

  • they dont care all they care about is $ money

  • Thats messed up man wow I can't believe that happened. The staff should get sued.

  • I was a charge nurse and my first day and the staff shows up with DVDs to watch. I was freaked. They were the worst crew to work with. Wanted to sit around and watch TV. The fact that they brought movies to watch told me that this behavior was a matter of routine. I worked that one evening and refused to go back the next day. Healthcare in America sucks, especially among nurses and understaff. Nurses gain weight and smoke for the most part--that I've seen. I became a flu shot nurse after that.

  • Those damn doctors and staff at the hospital! We pay these people via our tax money, and they get payed big money all for what? To watch House?! Fuck that! Not only do I question the Health plan in America, but almost everything else that's wrong with this country. I'm only this close to leaving it behind.

  • i'm a big fan of you but i've been wondering i've never seen you without you hat kinda funny isent it

  • umm WOW LOL. I love how you get so worked up about it. You're cute when you do that! ;-) I love it when you went "what the hell!!!" LMAO xD Good video though. That's pretty fucked up that they left him there so long...

  • Workers, those people aren't even human, how can anyone be so uncaring! It's disgusting!

  • It isn't their relative or anyone they care about. I will admit, it can't be any easy job but at least if you are going to take such a job, care about them!
