In America when toyota pickups were first shipped here in the late 60's all the pickups were called Hilux. I had a 1970 Hilux and they had turn signals on top of the front fenders like a dump truck. Added to American versions because Japan didnt use them up front. Not sure when the Hilux name stopped in the USA. I own a 91 pickup today and its called "toyota pickup". When the T-100 came out in 93-94 they used these names to describe them "pickup" Tacoma,T-100 mid size and Tundra large.
