I cant watch this movie without thinking about Patrick Swayze and what happened to him. It is heart breaking. This movie is where I saw Swayze for the first time as well and I was totally smitten by him. After seeing him in this role I think he sort of defined what a real man should be: courageous, loyal, honorable, adventurousness and kind; a person with character. I loved his friendship with George and their dedication to one another despite the odds. What a shame he had to go so early.

I was 12 years old in 8th grade and studying the civil war. My teacher asked us to watch this show and me and my older sister fell in love with all of the characters.
