  • So this is how you divide your hard disk ? parted Magic is easier !

  • why.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=fe8SNlhUHjQ - How NOT To Destroy A Hard Drive and How To Grunt & Curse Like An Ape

  • I hope that was a Samsung HDD

  • 1:15 FAIL

  • I love the MCT!

Also known as Manual Correction Tool or hammer ^_^

  • So go to prison because vandal things, because NOT INTELLIGENT vandal things and because of making bad videos illegaly and built a new one (in the long-long prison), then maaaaaybeeeee you'll get back your freedom!

  • Must of had Windows Vista :P

  • NOOOOOOOOOO D: XD i wish i could do that

  • Wouldn't a sledge hammer have done it a lot faster?

  • 0:05 i thought its a music lol nice jeans btw

  • these things take forever to destroy! I know from personal experience

  • that hdd is weak... it took me 10 minutes to wreck only half of my hdd with a metal baseball bat. (do not say IM weak cus that will be not original)

  • I could still read that HDD for 100% :+

  • its a good way to relase ur anger

  • i hate that hard drives are so hard to smash because of the metal casing!

  • @lolfunnycp the trick is to smash the top part with the drive facing up so that the metal casing bends up on the opposite end. Then you can pry in a screwdriver and hammer that in until you bend the casing up and the plates are exposed.

  • @batmanpronz thanks that makes it a lot easier (especially laptop hard drives)

  • @lolfunnycp are you kidding, thats what makes it so fun

  • See if it still works :D

  • looks like the original imac G3 harddrive

  • tap tap tap...hit it with your purse...

get a real hammer, like a 38 oz framing hammer or a Binford 2000.

  • It's totally ineffective in destroying data. Hammer can not reach a Curie point. Data may be revealed from reconstructed disk plates with simple methods.

  • The strikes on a angle seem to do more damage.

  • brb, fbi *grabs hammer*

  • This would be the coolest screensaver movie, just change the words in the corner to "Optimizing.. Fragmenting Drives"

  • Can I recommend a sledgehammer?

Also, the hard drive stood up surprisingly well at first... then failed spectacularly...

  • ever heard of data protection? If you're going to dump the harddrive as a company or developer, then you want that data destroyed. formatting does not destroy any data, only complete physical destruction of the harddrive

  • You do this to broken drives to destroy the platters so that they cannot be read by a data recovery company.

  • use a bigger hammer, man. sheesh.

  • Man that took a long time. Maybe you should have first opened it up, and then hammered the actual platters? Also, save the magnets, those are very fun.

  • Dude you need a bigger hammer. It shouldn't take more than one or two shots from a 20 lb. sledge to do the job, and it would be every bit as much fun. THAT is how you dispose of 50 of them in time for those TPS reports.

  • too... much... pain... must not... look... aaaah

  • Nice. Now sit there and do that for 50 of them. Don't forget, you've got 5 TPS reports to file before 2:30, a meeting with the supervisor at 2:45 to discuss those TPS reports, and then you've got to reload the company exchange server before the boss goes home so he can get his email. Have fun!

  • It takes far less energy to remove the hard drive cover and disassemble the platters. Then just drop them on a sidewalk and use your foot to abrade the surfaces. Not a whole lot of recovery is going to occur after that.

  • Nerd BDSM?

  • Just because you have a hammer, does every problem look like a hard drive?

  • Doesn't work very well when you have about 20 - 30 hard drives to do. I could already hear the guy on the video being out of breath.

  • Just use bigger hammer ;]

  • The safety warning on all Estwing hammers says, "Always wear safety gogles when using hand tools. Bystanders should also wear safety goggles."

  • I've spent over 10 years having trouble with this method. It seems that I was trying to hit the hammer with the harddrive instead of the other way around! Thank goodness for this video, now no one will know how foolish I was!

  • Why not use the pointy end? It would probably go faster that way.

  • I wonder how much that HD hates you 0.o

  • i just did it now.

i took off the outer casing though so that i wasn't just beating into the thick metal strip that is meant to protect the disk. then i took off the disks and dented/scratched them with a hammer and a screwdriver. and finally i dislodged a lot of the electronics, ripped half the circuit board out and removed all the serial numbers.

is this enough or do i actually have to smash the inner disks into pieces? they're already very dented and severely scratched.

  • I like how he nudges it back to center.

  • Can you do that once more, with feeling?

  • LOL!

  • u jsut open it up and and smash the disk then its a empty shell with a reader

  • A hammmer is not enough, you need to break the inside use a screwdriver, or best yet use a very strong acid.

  • stupid smasher! I give you an advice, put on your next movie some music with windows movie maker... like for example hard rock or metal. have you aver heard about it? look for example smasher1993 he is a great!!!!

  • @silviothebest thats how i allways make my vids!!!!!! with music!!!!!!! check them out and you wont regret about it!!!!!! ;D

  • Ok, smashed up HDD with a hammer, that's the first thing anyone would think of - the data on the disk is still able to be recovered by 96% because you didn't even touch the platters

  • Meh it was mostly porn anyway

  • HAHAHAHAH

  • get a bigger hammer next time...

  • Yeeehhh boi.. Thats what i did.. they are tough sons of bitches

  • you destructive son of a bitch. fuck you!

  • That was long lol.
