Saving Private Ryan was an absolutely amazing movie...but not because Vin Diesel was in it. He was only a bit player in that film and he was adaquate in his role; but it would have been a perfect movie with or without him in it. He just had the virtue of being associated with a hit.Why this man is popular all on his own is a total mystery to me. He seems to be in the same vein as Paris Hilton...famous for being famous.Perhaps he'll eventually do something great on his own, but boring until then.

@Subvoltify Well that may be, but there are still more than just a few people who look at Vin and wonder what it is that makes him stand out. He's isn't paticularly good looking. His acting is pretty flat. His build is steroid enhanced. Now he does have a voice with exceptionally resonance, but outside of that, he's pretty much a mystery. I know that people believe that Vin supposeably being gay is why Hollywood promotes him so hard; but the issue with me is one of talent. I haven't seen it yet.

@Subvoltify Your lack of explaination sums up my slight frustration. I don't have the answer either. I guess you either like him or you don't. I think that he appeals to the x-games generation who like action for action's sake and explosions, gun's shooting and car chase'es to make up for the painful lack of worth-while stories that we see in films today. That's not Vin's fault but his kind of hero is the product of it all. He might yet produce some good material, but so far he's not there yet

Vin does have a good voice...attitude...well...lead­ership...that's very subjective...body is obviously steroid enhanced with side effects so that's out. He is a writer and producer as well as a director. Charisma...subjective again. Humbleness and a great smile...that would seem to be true. But does that explain his unusual popularity? Not in the least. =D
