after watching live videos with dave then sammy its really a wonder dave lasted 10yrs with eddie. as much of a tone freak as he is to put up with dave shitty singing. all the songs in the dave era are great as long as its the studio version. live is a whole different world goes to show you how much mixing they did to fix daves voice. dont take this personal eddie but during the 70's-90's where did you buy your clothes RINGLING BROTHERS CIRCUS SALE?? the only thing your missing is a big red nose.

They were probably too drunk or too high and the mix was awful....and then I went on and said I wish I had seen them with Sammy for comparison. Roth better songs, no argument their, but as far as a touring band, I'll bet the Sammy years was the way to go....Hahaa....I've seen shows that you can only dream of, I saw Zeppelin in 75 at Olympia in Detroit when I was 12 bitch.

Yeah, sure thing man, no hard feelings it's all good, we're just havin' fun :) I think more than anything they were just having TOO much fun backin the "Dave" years, once Sammy got there they got down to business. This is Van Halen at their best....eddie was flawless....the sound was flawless and the singing was flawless. You could even take the vocals out and it would be one of the best instrumental albums ever...LIVE WITHOUT A NET is incredible...This is why you dont see many guitar players (including myself) playing anything from 5150..to damn hard!
