Stupid question: Does anyone have or knows where to find material of Labrie sounding bad right after the vocal accident??? On all the material i saw he still sounded awsome, apart from his voice cracking up from time to time. Cuz i think in 2002, with a lighter injury he sounded way worse then around the 94 era. Not to sh!t at him, cuz i'm a real big fan!! Just want to know more and hear more! Cheers

@kevintje82onboard To be frank, there really isn't much (if any) material of him sounding absolutely horrible after the rupture, aside from the voice cracks and lack of range. He still sounded pretty damn amazing, and in fact, his voice during the early 2000s was far worse than it was immediately after the accident. The only reason why people say he sounded so bad after the rupture was because his singing on the Images and Words tour was simply insane.

This was James 4 months before his vocal chord rupture. Awake was recorded by this time because Kevin is no longer with the band. This had to have been a really hard hit for Dream Theater to lose their star player for quite a few years.

I believe this was them auditioning new keyboardists after Kevin Moore left. Jordan declined the offer as he had a new child at home, but a few years later when they asked during the Liquid Tension Experiment sessions, he said yes. And now we have awesome.

he was but they hired Jordan first but at that point Jordan thought it wasn't the time to join DT and then Derek came along toured with them as a main member for a few years and then finally when the Liquid Tension Experiment stuff worked out with Rudess then JP and Portnoy asked Rudess to join again and he did so thne they let Derek go and Jordan came as a permanent member in 1998 :)

Nothing wrong here with him, it was his stlye of singing during this tour as in the Image and Words , David Pratter, their producer, asked him to keep it clean
