I think the release of these prisoners shows one clear thing. The Israeli government clearly will do whatever they can to protect their soldiers even at the cost of putting their innocent civilians at risk. I don't see any other way of looking at this. The men being released have killed innocent people before, and now, after being incarcerated they will probably not stop.

From what I do know Israeli's have a mandatory military sentence. This means every 18 year old Israeli must serve in the military, and they do so, with the hope that their government will protect them. Israel isn't perfect, and has made their mistakes but as someone who has a sister serving in Israeli forces, and has many family who is serving and presently serving in the Israeli army, I am pretty informed. You may say I am biased but I try to look at both sides of the story, and just today on the news Hamas announced that they want to kidnap more soldiers so more Palestinian prisoners may be released.

The Israeli government clearly will do whatever they can to protect their soldiers even at the cost of putting their innocent civilians at risk. I don't see any other way of looking at this. The men being released have killed innocent people before, and now, after being incarcerated they will probably not stop.
I pray that I am wrong for the sake of human life.

Very interesting stuff. On the one hand, you have to wonder why Gilad Shalit is so valuable to the Israeli government. To even consider this deal, suggests somethings at stake under the curtain. From what I do know Israeli's have a mandatory military sentence. This means every 18 year old Israeli must serve in the military, and they do so, with the hope that their government will protect them. Maybe Gilad has become a symbol to Israeli people that goverment protecting the military.
