i have a samoyed who is the most amazing dog iv ever had i,m 9 years old but i have 3 sisters one just turned 6 one is 1 one is 2 and we are looking for a 5 dog r they good with other dogs i have met 2 chows at my local park and one i have know since it was a couple of weeks old and now its 1 year old and he has not been trained and he is amazing i have never met a agresive chow is a chow a good idea
@DJdufis I don't think that a chow would be the best idea because some neighbors of ours had a chow for years, there were three kids in the family and he didn't seem very aggressive at first glance, however, he lunged at my sister and bit her arm. When you went into the house, the chow would become aggressive and unfriendly. Chows aren't good for family's with small children wither. If your family gets one, you should train it right from the get-go, or their will be problems.
I prefer pitbulls over these dogs I've had friends chow chows snap at me many a time my grandmother had a chow chow mix it wouldn't let me go near him came charging at me once but with pitbulls I've never had one snap at me I had this one pitbull come in to my yard that looked like it was used for fighting he had alot of nasty scars but damn was he a sweet dog no food aggression or nun awesome dog it was

how do they know that other dogs have only 42 teeth? These videos so far have not proven to be reliable in my eyes.
In addition, older Chows looked much more slender, even today you still have more slender dogs. Many modern chows would be completely incapable of pulling a sled.
Those breeders should be ashamed of what they did to the Chows.

people who say a Chow is mean and agressive, they don't really know the breed. Just because they can be cranky at times or just because some people don't know how to raise them, doesnt mean these dogs are bad. They're AMAZING, so loyal, proud, and total couch potatoes!

@illsaybadthings They just really hate strangers. Chows are extremely loyal to their family meaning they have a natural dislike for strangers because strangers could hurt their family. I've had 2 one was a little more aggressive than the other but they were never mean to kids. As long as a kid doesn't try to pet a chow chow that isn't familiar with them, I don't think it would do the child any harm.
Chow chows have good personality. Even if you hand them a fistful of bacon, it takes them months of seeing you around to trust you at all, so they are great guard dogs. And one time my friend gave his Chow chow some beer and it wouldn't drink until it thought no one was watching. :D

My uncle had a Chow Chow once, he had to be shaved though when my cousin was diagnosed with cancer because the dander wasn't good for her. But that dog was so loyal to my cousin, and would not leave her side for anything, that they weren't going to get rid of him. He was the sweetest dog I could think of.
I know a girl that has a chow chow. he's adorable!Anyway...once my parents ,her parents and I went camping together.At the campsite her dog was tied 2 a tree.A group of people walked by they saw the dog and one of them said "OMG it that a bear?" I lol'd and said that it's my friends dog... but Im serious they do look oddly like a mini bear!
my mom had two chow chows sasha and coca. Coca was the sweetist dog ever. but sadly when i was younger we had to put her down she was 15, for health reasons. Sasha had to be put down because she bit my aunts face, i would bite her to if she was in my face saying "whos a good girl". R.I.P. Coca and Sasha.

I can put my hand in his food bowl while he eats, and even take it away.. And he only looks at me as if to ask "can I have it back?". Every single stranger who has approached him is able to pet him - my dog loves it! I almost think that he is TOO friendly. He's my fifth Chow Chow - I was brought home from the hospital to one... And I'm still alive.

@dasdew2 Alright fine. Spend a little more time with it. Don't outright walk over to it. Just sit in it's general area and talk to it. That will prove to it that you're not a threat. And yes, when you need to go close to it, wrap a thick cloth over your arm. Just spend some time with it, it'll learn that you're a friend eventually.

I've never even heard either of my chow chows snarl before.. Monty just licks you a lot XD and keiko jumps excitedly alot, they're super passive

My uncle had a Chow Chow once, he had to be shaved though when my cousin was diagnosed with cancer because the dander wasn't good for her. But that dog was so loyal to my cousin, and would not leave her side for anything, that they weren't going to get rid of him. He was the sweetest dog I could think of.

I know a girl that has a chow chow. he's adorable!Anyway...once my parents ,her parents and I went camping together.At the campsite her dog was tied 2 a tree.A group of people walked by they saw the dog and one of them said "OMG it that a bear?" I lol'd and said that it's my friends dog... but Im serious they do look oddly like a mini bear!

my mom had two chow chows sasha and coca. Coca was the sweetist dog ever. but sadly when i was younger we had to put her down she was 15, for health reasons. Sasha had to be put down because she bit my aunts face, i would bite her to if she was in my face saying "whos a good girl". R.I.P. Coca and Sasha.

@andypeluche96 You said 'it's a shame Chow's are so aggressive'. My Chow is well socialized. He lies down when another, dominant, dog approaches. I can put my hand in his food bowl while he eats, and even take it away.. And he only looks at me as if to ask "can I have it back?". Every single stranger who has approached him is able to pet him - my dog loves it! I almost think that he is TOO friendly. He's my fifth Chow Chow - I was brought home from the hospital to one... And I'm still alive.

can someone help me?my chow chow is from a diffrent family,he use to live inside till we go him(we live in texas and its summer),i dont think hes exercised like he should be and more but im running out of space.i went outside one day(im not arround the dog that much still he was kind)to give him water and he seemed relaxed till i got near him,i pulled out my stilleto knife backed away and kneed him in the jaw while screamin down boy.if he does that again next time its a gun.but istill need help.

@SuperSmashShaman look i dont want to, but i am willing to grab a 20guage shotgun in self defense(on any treat and ONLY for my life).i came here for advice not critisim and you could of said wrap a thick cloth over your left arm(towel,jacket,shirt,ext.(didnt think of it till yesterday))im looking for advice,and besides my parents would rather have a dead dog than a dead son.stop joking around cause im serious.i also said its my parents choice not mine,also its summer in TEXAS.

@dasdew2 Alright fine. Spend a little more time with it. Don't outright walk over to it. Just sit in it's general area and talk to it. That will prove to it that you're not a threat. And yes, when you need to go close to it, wrap a thick cloth over your arm. Just spend some time with it, it'll learn that you're a friend eventually.
