Thank you so much. This instructional video was a life saver last night when our furnace stopped working during the middle of the night (in the midst of a snow storm).
i'd never done anything like this before and i was initially worried about trying it myself, but it's actually really easy and quite safe. just make sure to smell around in case there is a gas leak. thanks for the video! really clear and simple to follow
thanks a million, you really help me with my water heater, and once again I impress my wife showing her that I'm the handy man she thinks I am> thanks to you.
I don't why, but most appliances I see on you tube have appliance flex connectors. They are only approve for certain applications(Up here in Canada anyway).
Classic Manuals, you guys ROCK, my pilot light when out at my apt, and my landlord had no clue, but with you little video we got it lit and he now knows and feels comfortable re-lighting the pilot light..
I never would have guessed that a video on how to light water heaters was hear until i needed it, thank you. I showed my sister up and for that, you are the man.
Thank you so much for this video! My pilot light went out about a month ago and my landlord came over and showed me how to relight it. When I tried earlier today, it wouldn't light—but then I watched your video and realized that I needed to hold it down longer. Thanks so much—you've saved me from cold water in the middle of a blizzard!
Natural gas has 1000 BTU per cubic foot. A Therm is 100 cu ft of Nat Gas and is the minimum billing unit. I pay about $1.25 per therm. So a 40,000 BTU/hour water heater would cost about $0.65 per hour of operation (check my math).
BTW It costs about $8.00 per month for each pilot light that you have burning.
Thank You! Your video helped me relight the pilot light on our furnace. Now my family won't freeze! (And we don't have to call the rip off artists (Suburban) and have them come out and relight it)
Thank you so much for posting this video. I tried following the instructions on my tank and they were useless. In desperation I turned to the internet and found this video. I followed the instructions and was able to light the pilot without any problem. I immediately canceled the service call I had made and saved myself $100. God bless you!
My hot water heater doesn't have a valve like that just a weird blue knob that twists and a red button right next to it that doesn't depress when you push it. I have no clue what to do.
yeah I had a relative come over and they fixed it, I was doing it right but I needed to have the pilot button moved over about an 8th of an inch to allow the button to depress, guess I was just a tad impatient. Thanks for the vid anyhow it did help me understand the whole mechanism.
my basement flooded a day ago and the water tank pilot lite is off; iev tried everything to keep it lite and it wont stay lite. what am i doing wrong ?
How exactly do you light the heater?, I have a centralized heater and it looks like it was sharing a gas line with the water heater... is it possible for you to make another Video for this?
Thanks for the video! Very helpful! We got our pilot back on, and hot water once again =)

My pilot light went out for some reason.... What would cause a light to go off for no reason?
Laobuddy 2 years ago
Did it go out for some reason or no reason? You claim both. in any event -- Check your air supply and thermocouple
