by seeing just the little piece of your hair. i have predicted how ud look like. glasses, a long pointy nose but not to pointy. blue eyes, a kind of light coloured skin and a skinny medium build.
I just discovered your version of "Puttin On The Ritz". I've added the link to a folder I call "piano music I could listen to all day". Excellent job. Thank you.
...and some people say theres actually no profit in daily practise... (you know, those guys who buy themselves music-software, turntable and lots of crappy soundproducts)
@silvermediastudio I guess it's worth mentioning.. Bertie was trying to learn the song because it was all the rage at his club, but was having issues claiming Berlin had too many words and not enough notes. Jeeves, as only Jeeves could, points out the nuance of a syncopated 5/4 time signature in American early jazz, and Bertie begrudgingly gives it a pass. In real life, they were both quite accomplished on the piano.
my left hand already developed quite well,, although there still is a lot to do. but maybe u can give me some hint in developing the right hand? to really get it smooth and play with good accuracy, touch and speed.. could u recommend any particularly senseful work outs? that would be very kind..
firstly i must state that i really like your style! i am learning (or trying to learn) stride piano for some time, and of course its mean stuff. when trying to analyze ur style i would say ur left hand mainly provides that classic stride bass- single notes, walked tenths, and so on, while your right has more of a swing style approach, lets say teddy wilson, or a lighter earl hines (very octaved based, right)? i like that a lot, i wanna go kind of in that direction...
Hi, How do you get your fingers to stretch 10th? I am a beginner and my left hand is sore just for trying it, however it looks so comfortable for Mr. Dawson. Does anyone know a way or exercises to reach tenths intervals please?
If you are asking for sheet music check out my arrangement for this song in my channel. This is not exactly this version, but a version partly arranged by me and partly adapted from bascholars.. Please thumbs up or uploader reply to this comment so everyone will see the sheet :P
Fantastic!! Very musical. It grooves super! every note is lika a tiny pearl. Get's even better with closed eyes. Chris Dawson is really a dicovery for me. will go now to his website BRavo!!!

@OnceMoreWithNoir well no because not everyone is as gifted as this guy. mozart, chopin, scott joplin - they all improvised, but they also wrote it down so other people could enjoy playing it too. :-)
There can't be sheet music if it's being improvised, this sort of music is just so much better when being played like this, you get the freedom of doing what you want to do, not being told what to do by a piece of paper!
Dont need the music better to just watch an' listen. The easiest part is the key it's in the difficult bit is keepin' that lefty movin' an' of course groovin'
Okay, this song was just so inspiring that I had to sit down and learn the chords, and it was awesomely simple, but I can only hope that someday I can be as entertaining in my solo as you were.
This is one of those pieces where I keep coming back to watch. Great work! :D I love the flawless stride LH, the crisp lines, and the overall sound/feel.
(By the way, is there a good place to learn stride piano? I play jazz, but I've always wanted to learn stride as well)
Do you mean a transcription of this version, or are you asking for the music to Struttin' at the Ritz. This is improvised, so there is no music to this version.
Absolutely amazing. I have just done Grade 3 and I'm already starting Grade 4. I wish I could do Stride Piano even just that piece. That is my favourite stride piece ever :)
It just struck me! The sound and feeling of this true masterpiece from Chris matches completely the great music from Django Reinhard - transferred to solo piano! Never heard this done so brillant before. So maybe we can hope for "Minor Swing" from Chris? :-)
Fantastic! Really amazing! I heard it several times now, and will come back again. Is this on a CD also from Chris? And is Chris' version of this song inspired by another version or simply his own?
Yes, I agree with OrganCat. The rhythm is relentless and sort of spring-loaded. A lesson in how not to overuse the pedals: the bass line is just right and doesn't drown out the melody.
Great work! Clean as a whistle and great attention to dynamics and balance! You're a master. Search YouTube 'Ike Reeves' and check out my work on piano.
It's like the song was written with the improv! Holy Smokes this is soooo good! You are a MASTER of STRIDE!

Chris is the best. Time, feel, voicings.... The fact that this got 11 "thumbs down" just goes to show what a cultural void we live in.
