Bertie was trying to learn the song because it was all the rage at his club, but was having issues claiming Berlin had too many words and not enough notes. Jeeves, as only Jeeves could, points out the nuance of a syncopated 5/4 time signature in American early jazz, and Bertie begrudgingly gives it a pass. In real life, they were both quite accomplished on the piano.

firstly i must state that i really like your style! i am learning (or trying to learn) stride piano for some time, and of course its mean stuff. when trying to analyze ur style i would say ur left hand mainly provides that classic stride bass- single notes, walked tenths, and so on, while your right has more of a swing style approach, lets say teddy wilson, or a lighter earl hines (very octaved based, right)? i like that a lot, i wanna go kind of in that direction...

Yes, I agree with OrganCat. The rhythm is relentless and sort of spring-loaded. A lesson in how not to overuse the pedals: the bass line is just right and doesn't drown out the melody.
